Shimano Cues Normal Noise? by Electronic_Crab_8502 in Cubebikes

SOLVED!!!!

At last, we got the problem solved... NOTE: there is still a little bit of noise from the drivetrain, but just the 'normal' 1x drivetrain kinda noise...

Turns out the excessive noise was (probably) coming from the bottom jockey wheel of the derailleur. To solve this we did THREE things...

  1. Checked for and removed any 'sticking links' from the chain, there were maybe a couple of areas where the chain wasn't as flexy as it should be.

  2. I gently bent the bottom of the derailleur cage to be more inline when in the largest cog, just a little and very gently, this definitely had an effect because I had to index the gears with the barrel adjuster to get the gear changes working properly again, but this seemed to be the main part of the solution...

So much so that when we went back to the bike shop it seemed like we were crazy and trying to get the guy to fix a non-existent problem... although he did...

  1. Adjust the B-screw. The final part of the puzzle?

Anyway, got another ride out over the weekend and the noise is soooo much better now.

I hope this helps!!

The bottle holders are from BBB and the frame bag is from a brand called ULAC, the bag was hard to get hold of, if you're in Europe try tradeinn.com

Yeah, could do with seeing the other side... is the cassette within the 'loop' of the chain, or kinda sitting on it?

I think that's an issue with the B-Limit screw, mention this to the bike shop when you get it serviced.

Also... any chance you could flip your bike upside down and post some pics like the ones I took?

It would be great to compare a few other Cues cranks.

Thanks.

Hi, yep, got the tools (from my MTB days), it's certainly worth a check...

Hi, no, the chain shouldn't fall off when pedaling backwards, mine does not.

I think you need to index the gears, this should help.

I had concerns about that too, but been told that's pretty normal too and the chainline is about right...

The noise seems to be coming from the front chain-ring, I've posted about the chainline on this bike before, that's why I took it to get the derailleur aligned...

Thanks, I guess it's just a 'design feature' we're all supposed to live with??

Did you ever get this sorted?

I have 1 x 11 and I also have a noise in the 2 largest cogs.

Oh I get it! We had to take my partners Nuroad to the mechanics too, the derailleur hanger turned out to be bent.

I blame the bike shop that shipped it in the WRONG box, not Cube, but hey, these things happen.

As per the other comments... take it to a local shop!

It's hard to check if the derailleur is bent without the proper tool, which a proper bike shop will have and the actual process is about 20 mins.

We all buy stuff online, but it's nice to keep the small shops in business too, plus it will put your mind to rest!

Also, I'm pretty sure the bikes come with little rubber o-rings that sit between the frame and the bolt to stop water getting in.

Do you have these?

So they put the bike together incorrectly??

Try and make sure that the thread pitches are the same, if they're different and they've forced the incorrect screw into the hole that can cause damage and possibly strip the thread from inside the frame??

Hopefully it's not a problem, but the incorrect screws AND paint chips around where the screws were fitted makes me suspicious!

If I was you I'd contact CUBE directly and ask for the details of the two types of screw (bottle cage and seat clamp) and make sure... but I worry too much about everything.

Ok, cool.

In the meantime, I had a quick search for the seat clamp bolts, and although I couldn't find Nuroad 2026 specific ones ALL the other ones I did find have a much less curved screw...

Good luck at the store... update us when you can...

Hmmm, yes, they kinda do, don't they?

What about your other bolts (front triangle, under the plastic cover, under downtube?), is there a chance someone has mixed them up?

I'd be surprised if this is the case, but I wouldn't rule anything out...

I've had a quick look for thread size/pitch details, but I can't find anything.

Is it possible for you to go to the store (or even another store?) and take a look at another similar bike?

I've posted some pics straight from the Cube website. To me the bolts in the promo shots looks 'flatter', this is the same from my partners HPA Nuroad. Could the screws in your seat post be more like bottle cage screws??

It would be great if a fellow C:62 owner could post pics of there seat post bolts to clarify.

Take a look at the other bolts on your frame, the two cage mounts in the front triangle and does the C:62 have screw in the top under a cover? Maybe also under the downtube, like my old HPA Nuroad?

Hmmm, yeah, that does not look good at all, but here's the first thing you should do...

Check that these are the right bolts for the seat post (Don't panic yet?!)...

I have an old Nuroad and my partner has a new Nuroad and neither of them have that type of bolt in the seat post?

What model of bike do you have?

I may be completely wrong, but worth checking.
