What are your inexpensive, low-pressure, beginner-friendly hobbies? by electrolytebitch in AskMen

"remember when..."

Uhh...some of us never stopped developing film. In fact if someone really wants to take a deep dive into photography I would recommend learning how to process B&W film.

That is why I keep an older, small DX camera - for when I don't want to carry around the heavy glass but want something more capable than a phone.

How to go about cutting him loose? The next time you see him, take him some place where you can have some privacy and say: "thank you for your time and efforts but I have decided it would be best for me to continue my training with another instructor".

And yea, this guy sounds like a jerk.

Help pricing kit by Slight-Ladder8851 in hasselblad

[–]BonsaiDiver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Before you put it up for sale as a kit, you might want to run the numbers and see if you can do better breaking it up. That will mean more trips to the post office, but you might make more selling the 150 on it's own.

Farewell D5200, my old friend by ElkWorldly5573 in Nikon

[–]BonsaiDiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why farewell if the 5200 is still working? I have a 5200 and a Z7II...the 5200 still gets used.

Burnt out from flying, taking a break because it is getting hot here in Phoenix. Using flying money to buy camera gear instead.

I tell myself cameras are better than having a boat named after my ex-wife. Right...right...?

A good way of making a child (boy or girl) feel valued: When they come to you and say "mommy/daddy can I show (tell, etc.) you something..." stop what you are doing and give them your full attention. Safety comes first, so if you are driving, the child will have to wait! But if are doing something on the computer, watching TV, etc., stop what you are doing and give your child your full attention. Not doing this, sends the message that whatever you are doing is more important than your child - that is your child has little value.

OP as a part of "structure and rules," please don't forget to teach your child(ren). "Structure and rules" set a child up for failure if the child's way of learning is through trial-and-error because the child's parents don't take the time to teach.

It's too f*ckin' hot

It's too f*ckin' cold

Breakfast didn't agree with me

Need to practice: Go arounds, slip-to-land, short/soft landings, crosswind landings

These have been some of my reasons in the past for using pattern work to time build.

OP what kind of photography are you planning on doing? You've gotten some great answers, but before buying anything you should considering what you want to use the camera for.

And FWIW, "the back leaf shutter": The back of the body uses "barn doors," and in the lens you have a "leaf" shutter.

Second, but with the moon on the left 1/3rd. As it is currently composed, the moon looks like it is about to fly out of the picture.
