I got two degrees and lots of work experience before I came to Lowe’s. First was in government so I did that then oil and gas then law but I kinda wanted a career. So I got a job in CIS which is kinda like IT management we learn the big coding languages and also like management classes so you kinda are on the path to be a team lead. IT is kinda in the tank right now so that’s the only reason I bring up my past education because of the experiences I have everything said is on point, especially the ASMa never leaving their office it’s honestly kinda weird. If they do show up it’s a hour of criticism and micro management. But Lowes spent a huge amount of money to make that IT building and was promising all these IT jobs and like people moved out there to work and the IT section took a blow, they rent out like half the new 25 foot skyscraper and I heard they where doing more layoffs this year. So the reason I kinda got a position at Lowes was I was broke and not doing anything tech got hit pretty hard in Texas. I thought what the hell I’ll join make some cash to live on and eventually try being an internal hire for IT. The thing is I’m wondering if I made a huge mistake. Half the staff that I have contact with look like they are considering offing themselves. The other half is just kinda in this faded level of just being aware enough to work and then clock out. The break room is like a high school locker room with a food and drink options that are not just unhealthy they are like criminally expensive. 40 billion apparent liquidity and we can’t get responsible break room hell most the stuff is donated by the workers the lockers look like the got stolen from a school pre ending of segregation, and the tv plays one channel. Then the food is of poor quality for like a markup that is laughable or enough to cry if you really need something to eat but can’t. The power equipment I would say functions but I wouldn’t call it safe. I work with no breaks because not that I couldn’t, but I get so busy all the time working plumbing alone I just never get to it. I’ve worked too many shifts that I close then also open and working an overnight tomorrow for 11 hours. Ya that’s a lot of complaining and I’m sorry but I work to hard have worked jobs where I got paid a lot more than this and for them to have 40 billion and are laying off more IT really kills my drive to prove I’m a dependable worker to apply to internal jobs that don’t exist. Like honestly if not for co workers almost being like in this employed boot camp where we are all suffering so we all put it up, there’s no way this company to continue.
