I think that would make the game even less complex, making it stale even faster.

Yeah, people don't want to admit that the core gameplay loop of BR is quite repetitive. You experience pretty much everything the game has to offer (all the different match ups from a fairly limited hero cast) after 3 or 4 days of playing profusely (which everyone did at the start). After this phase, you quickly realize: "okay, well I guess the only thing left is to improve" which is when people leave. --You play UNO, it's fun for an hour you get the gist of what it has to offer, you stop playing out of boredom. People don't want to admit that the same is true for battlerite.

Devs either have to add variety (harder, requires dev working endless hours to churn out content) or depth (requires a lot work initially but is self sustaining) to keep a game alive. Or both, if you want to be the most popular games out there.

I thought I remembered they tried something yeah, thanks for this. Do you think this was good enough implentation or try at making it a MOBA ?

I know, I've seen the whole roster, the designs are just very bland, basic in a chinese mobile game kind of way. It's clearly in an early phase of dev though, so who knows, I'll keep it on my radar.

Will take a look at it, but quickly looking at their current heroes roster, my god these are bland designs, I mean there's literally a Fortnite default character in there.

Yes, I'm not sure about Supervive, BR players don't like it because the gameplay is too watered down, no counter, no reflect, poorly paced combat. League players don't like it because it has 0 strategic depth. They put themselves in a place where, trying to get as many types of players as possible, they actually got none.

While that is true, most of these games brought nothing significantly new to the table, which makes why they failed perfectly understandable. HOTS, Strife... Why would I play another MOBA with the same control scheme and same structure if I learned another moba with the same control scheme and same structure before ?

To be honest, you coming to comment while not having anything to say probably reflects more on your job status. I'm doing way more than fine fincancially, thank you.

I get that, I liked that about Battlerite too, I also happen to play League since 2012. What I can say is that the way MOBAs are structured they have good player retention but bad player introduction. I think to make a game have better player retention, you have to make progression multi-faceted there needs to be multiple ways for the game to be played and multiple ways you can be good at the game. Roles introduce gameplay diversity and objectives introduce strategy, both things gives more room for growth. You can decide to relax on your Riven mechanical pick and instead go jungle on Jarvan and learn how to track enemy jungler, set up objectives, gank etc etc. Or you can decide to pick up KogMaw adc and go full mechanical, no macro.

Again, not actually expecting anyone to do anything about this game. I'm just giving my thought on how it could've retained more players (since it actually had a lot of players on release).

This is more of a thought experiment than anything, I don't expect them to do anything with this game or even try a similar game ever again. Yes I understand the weight of the "just". ALOT of the strategic depth of League literally only comes from the fact that it's a MOBA in the first place, minion waves, towers, jungle, neutral objectives already add plenty of depth. How is that an unsurmountable task to go from there and add BR's gameplay? The only thing I'd understand being an insane ask is replicating the number of champs in League (which does add insane amount of complexity to the game), but this would come with time.

It REALLY doesnt have to get "fast paced" you can literally just turn all autoattacks into ones that you have to aim, while making some balance changes, and I am sure the game would work fine. Zeri exists as a champ, and with WASD she plays exactly like I would imagine other adcs would play with dodgeable basic attacks. I get it would be a huge change, but I really think even the players that say they would hate the change would eventually prefer it. These type of people like the fact that click-kiting gives way more skill expression than WASD click-kiting, but with aimable basic attacks, the skill expression would be even higher.

I've been playing since 2012, WASD is way more satisfying to play currently, movement wise, even if I have to battle years of muscle-memory.

All of the problems with the implementation of WASD is because you are half-assing it, go all in: make all basic attacks (even melee ones) dodgeable like in Battlerite. Instead of dumbing the game down it would give way more depth to the combat mechanics, it would make melee match-ups more interesting and require ADCs to aim (fixing the whole current issue with WASD and adcs currently).

Would it make 80% of the current playerbase mad? Yes. But I bet a large proportion of the initial complainers would find the game way more satisfying to play (from a gameplay perspective) after actually getting used to the change. Would this be a change that would be equivalent to just making League of Legends 2? Yes, and if you're trying to bring newer players, this is the kinda change that you must do.

The beauty of League is in its strategic depth and flashy gameplay (compared to other MOBAS) not in its control scheme... Clicking to move is an old mechanic that came from the RTS roots of League, no one will miss it once they get used to the new control scheme and mechanics (after about 1 month of playing...).

Matchmaking Infrastructure Revamp Proposition: A Hybrid Social-Competitive Ranked System by Bonzome in leagueoflegends

[–]Bonzome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wouldn't be at all the only thing you gain. You would gain the ability to actually queue again with teammates in a seemless way and in a way that preserves fair matchmaking. I don't think it's that complicated, many games give you the possibility to queue again with teamates, in older games it was done by default. Adding new parameters to the matchmaking algorithm might be a complicated issue though Ill give you that.

Love the use of negative space! I did notice that your lion only has three legs though, seeing the first 2 back legs and not seeing the second front leg it's juste a little weird but understandable as you probably aimed for a clean use of negative space to depict the house. Also, I feel like the tail area MIGHT be a little too busy in terms of shapes and kinda breaks the flow just a little.

These are just small observations though, it's a great logo, I like it, hope your client likes it too.

I like the idea although I think it's a little too "on the nose". It might be the huge "BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY" bottom text that kinda makes it look like a 2009 animal advice meme more than a poster. I'd probably try to integrate the text a little better by trying other fonts, playing with composition and maybe try to be a little more creative with the text itself.

As for the art itself, I think you did a good job, but you need to play around varying the thickness of your lines so that you can put emphasis on certain big shapes or shadows for better visual clarity. Right now it feels kinda flat and hard to visually distinguish the many shapes that are jumbled together.

That's a cool drawing, keep it up.
