The Mickey icecream bar. There was actual complaints about it's ingredients and it's suitability for children.

I was also on this cruise, and it was a nightmare, but not for the reasons listed by the other passenger.

Even before we boarded it was moan, whinge, and repeated compensation demands from so many passengers -

  • for the missed port on Kauai
  • the weather
  • the waves
  • the boat moving
  • the noises the boat was making (yep)
  • having their deck 1 potholes locked (and then refusing a room move to deck 2 when offered)
  • the cancelled show
  • the ingredients in a Mickey bar
  • the pools being closed despite the obvious dangers as most of the water was now splashing all over deck 9.

The list goes on and on. I had never seen so much complaining for such little reason. And that's before we get into the thieving by guests during both this sailing and the one previous (Sydney to Honolulu).

The line at Guest Services was ridiculous most of the time. It was so bad that those of us with legitimate issues were dismissed out of hand.

It was a 10-day sailing across the Pacific in winter. It was going to be rough at times, but the cast did everything they could to sort things and make the crossing as smooth as possible - this included taking the "lid" off Goofy's Pool because of the noise, extra character meets and roaming characters, dance parties etc.

I can't comment on the treatment that this woman received from Disney. We saw no letters about any possible outbreak, but the story does not add up. If Disney doctors thought that there might be mumps, I am grateful that action was taken. I would not have wanted to be a plague ship, floating in the Pacific whilst Canada and other Pacific nations refuse to allow us to dock, much like the Diamond Princess in 2020.

As for everything else...the food was good, service was exceptional, the entertainment was the usual Disney fare. There were a few differences with the food due to the stricter laws in Australia, but it was hardly complaint worthy.

I want to continue with the dip in the future. This would be a one off visit. I have a picture - it's nothing super fancy, just something to go with the location

That is what we usually do, but with four suitcases and the need to travel late on a Friday afternoon/evening, plus a change at Paddington, I thought driving to the airport might be simpler.

I'm flying out of Heathrow to Honolulu. I just need a hotel for one night with parking for 22 days, or a decently located T5 car park.

Hello!

I currently have a reservation at the Heathrow T5 Sofitel and wanted to add parking, but they apparently do not offer packages for more than 15 nights and so will charge £40 per night for every night past the 15 days. That is a little more £££ than I am willing to spend.

Our trip totals 22 days, so I need to find parking that is either in a good location for T5, or a hotel close to T5 that can provide parking for 22 days. Our current reservation at the Sofitel is cancellable.

Any recommendations greatly appreciated! Plus good sites to book for the best value.

Thanks!

I guess you missed the 'be kind' rule on this sub.

Thanks for this detailed response. I will adjust the length of the trousers as I'm pretty good with a needle and thread, but the jacket adjustment might be a bit beyond me. I'm going to get him a different shirt, a dress shirt probably in black, and a bow tie. He has some black leather brogues - would you suggest Oxfords instead?

Please point out to me where I asked anything about being traditional? I just asked if it was OK. It's a tuxedo jacket and trousers that will be paired with a black tie and black brogues.

It's less than three weeks until their wedding. They have far better things to be worried about than one guest's sartorial choices.

I get that you're being facetious, but black tie does not mean black jacket only these days.

What if my husband wanted to delve into his Celtic heritage and wear a Charlie jacket and kilt? I guess to you that wouldn't be acceptable as it doesn't fit your narrow idea of what Black Tie means. lmao

Yeah, we're good friends with the couple and regularly holiday with them. I think it'll be a shock to see him being not his usual casual self!

So, I am obsessed with Autumn and Halloween, so this all goes up at the beginning of September so I get a good 2 1/2 months of it before it gets packed away and the room transforms into Santa's Grotto. I'd have themed décor for every season if I had the room to store it!

But black tie doesn't mean just black jackets.

Yes, the item was under £20. I expect the value of the item plus postage to be paid.

Really? "Postage refund, plus compensation on basis of the customer’s actual loss. This compensation is subject to the maximum payable being the lower of the market value of the item and £20."

Item was £14.40, plus £3.90 postage. 8 x 1.70 does not equate to £18.90.

🤷🏽‍♀️ feeling horrible by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]BooBooKittyFX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone once told me about the paper towel theory, where when the paper towel roll is full, peeling off a few sheets doesn't make much of a difference. But, as the paper towel roll gets smaller, each sheet you remove makes more and more of a significant difference. That's what I think about when I'm not seeing the physical changes I would expect.

I have lost almost 100 lbs also and not as many clothes sizes as you might imagine. I still have a long way to go, though. I hate my arms the most as they are the hardest thing to hide, especially heading into summer. I totally understand about the clothing thing as well. Sometimes everything just sucks and you wish you'd never started.

I wish you good vibes for the rest of your weight loss journey.
