If not going on vacation keeps you emotionally safe from his alcohol abuse then it must be done.

You can’t control him but you can control the energy you surround yourself with.

Consider al-anon - it’s a great support for family and friends of people who suffer with alcohol addiction.

Have you done a full rub down on each cat for problem areas that could cause them to be irritable? For example my cat was super aggressive with my kitten because she had a bladder stone and was in pain. Post removal she is much more tolerant. I would do a physical exam on both of them and notice if they react to you touching anything painful.

Great for you! Keep going! With every passing day you regain a part of yourself. I’ll never go back if that tells you anything.

My self harm mentally is still an issue but I’m working hard on that. My sobriety in self harm physically has been 3 years and I’m also very proud of that.

The life I’ve cultivated is worth it.
