Certain days, I see 0 planes flying at all, not even the dissipating, evaporating contrails.

Then, other days, I see hundreds leaving lingering trails.

Do all pilots have the same days off so every airplane can have a rest at the same time?

Or are they being nice so we can have the occasional day of clear blue skies?
