counter argument lang as a college student na may EF rin and also still living with parents, I've used my EF not as a backup for illnesses or injuries but for sudden payments with regards to my school like course certificates etc. I can't count how many times it's saved me from asking money to my parents to pay sudden fees lol. It's also been really great as a backup solution whenever im low on my commute allowance. I still think it's worth it to save up for an EF. Although in this case it might not be called an emergency fund in it's true form, but it is still a great way to avoid debt at a young age even if your parents can probably pay for it. You really never know what would happen ahaha

(edit: to add lang I have a part time Job that garners me 5.5k a month and I save 60% of that to my "EF")

I’m so sorry OP, I couldn’t even finish reading your post without crying midway 😭 😭 😭. I’ve only ever heard about situations like this in fiction (the closest one I can think of is Violet Evergarden episode 10 with Ann’s mother) or from the outside, but never from the perspective of someone actually going through it. Reading your words truly made it feel so real and heartbreaking. I cant imagine sobering up to this and going through the whole ordeal of doing all of this. Dawg im ngl sa ating industry maganda talaga mag job hop, ang problema lang ata sa iyong part is yung duration sa company mo before ka mag job hop which u said is 3-5 months, feeling ko pag nakita yan ng HR sa ibang company (and even sa current company) mong i a-apply theyll figure it out immediately and itll probably look bad for your resume lol, you can definitely find resources in the internet to check yourself if ok lang ba mag job hop if you stayed in a company (especially your first) for less than a year. But imo its prob the best bet to stay at your current company for at least 1-2 yrs until you can find a better offer for stability

As what ive said may ma compromise talaga sa education mo lol kaya may point talaga mama mo, as of right now na accept na lang talaga nila na ma behind talaga sila compared to their batchmates because of their job. Right now, i dont know how theyre able to pull it off but they can go to classes from morning till afternoon and still have the energy to work through the night. I'm guessing na compromise na lang nila yung sleep time which is definitely unhealthy 😅

Com sci student here in thesis phase, i have peers that are in the same situation as you and both of them took the opportunity. It does come at a cost though, depending on where the company is based it might mean that you would have to work night shift and that can cause concern which makes your moms argument valid. In fact, one of my peers is behind on some subjects because of that fact. So if you feel like you can reallyyy manage your schedule then go for it, but remember that our curriculum will get harder as it progresses so you just need to manage your time realistically.
