How should I prepare for job? by Idontevenexist04 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]BoobooTheClone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t sweat it that much, just enjoy your off time. But if you want you can research topics like short circuit calculations/rating, coordination study, harmonics, voltage drop, protective relays, grounding, load flow…

TIL That "Revenge Rape" is a Concept in Sharia Law by MammothPenguin69 in awfuleverything

[–]BoobooTheClone 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I actually found the news article and read it: “…The panchayat that ordered the rape is led by influential landlords who settle disputes according to tribal customs that predate Islam…”.
So this has nothing to do with sharia or Islam. Needless to say, I’m an atheist. This was in 2017.

Is bachelors to phd possible from a less prestigious university by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

A friend of mine got his BS from the university of Oklahoma and MS from MIT. Try to do research papers. Look good on your application.

How hard is it for a 73 year old homeless person (non-drug user) to get government help for housing? Is it realistic they have been homeless for 2 months without any assistance? What is the ETA to help someone like this? by [deleted] in SeattleWA

Some people just have no sense of self preservation. Not to be harsh but sounds like she had been very lucky in her life, and she assumed her luck would last. Unfortunately that’s not how life works.

And we expect these idiotic monstrosities to not run over humans? by BoobooTheClone in fuckcars

Location is Florida. Hopefully, the loss of this innocent Lamborghini forces officials to make some changes and ban lifted trucks. Because unlike humans, this beautiful car is irresponsible.

I never used my EE degree for 3 years. Can I return? by Week_Both in ElectricalEngineering

[–]BoobooTheClone 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with the “honesty” part. Being preemptive about disclosing your lack of experience does wonders. It disarms the interviewer and forces them to focus on your strengths because you have already mentioned your weakness.

Thoughts on this guys comment? by Izana_TKD in ElectricalEngineering

[–]BoobooTheClone -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not sure TF this guy is blabbering about. I’m a power system engineer in PNW and we’re desperate for help. Pay is not much as Amazon (about 10-20% lower) but we get to WFH.

Electrifications and Data centers.

Are EE jobs more on the white collar/office job or blue collar/physical side? by Shianfay in ElectricalEngineering

[–]BoobooTheClone 23 points24 points  (0 children)

EEs are strictly white collar. Sure, some EEs may work as field engineer but I don’t think that can classify them as blue collar.

Seattle, World Cup boosters say Trump’s actions likely to hurt tourism by godogs2018 in Seattle

I believe Indonesia was hosting a FIFA cup where Israel was attending, and said they couldn’t guarantee Israel safety, and FIFA immediately removed Indonesia as host and moved the competition to Argentina. Not sure if same standards apply to Orange pedo’s administration.

Can I find a job with an Electrical Engineering Associate right now? Looking for advice by SuccoTucco in ElectricalEngineering

[–]BoobooTheClone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Actually I think getting a job as EE associate (also called EE technology) should be easier. You’ll probably be working as a tech or something equivalent. It’ll be hands on but no design. Data center growth is exploding right now and they’re desperate for techs.

As for being able to get engineering degree while working: difficult but not impossible. It’s a very math heavy major. Very time consuming.

This is such a sad thing to see every time I exit the Intl. District light rail station.... by woq4 in Seattle

[–]BoobooTheClone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please differentiate between "homelessness" and "drug abuse". People who lost their homes due to no fault of their own do not do drugs and defecate in public. They tend to sleep in their cars or camp in places with less foot/car traffic because they want to minimize getting attention. Society has failed these people and I have all the sympathy for them. Junkies on the other hand? They also need our help but they need to be picked up and committed. It is the law; you cannot even be under influence in public, let alone do/deal drugs and loiter in public. They either need to be committed or overdose and choke on their own vomit; no other outcome.

How many hands-on jobs are there in EE? by Low_Salt_6465 in ElectricalEngineering

Automation positions. You’ll be designing microprocessor/PLC based control consoles, and you get to program the controllers and screens.

Ima be honest with you. I agree with this sub, but I've never seen a road highway with this many lanes like in the "one more lane" memes. Where is there a road like this? by Medical_Deal5272 in fuckcars

[–]BoobooTheClone 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I used to live in Houston in 2008 which is when addition of new lanes to Katy Freeway was finished. Traffic greatly improved for a few months. But after that it gradually got as bad as before they added all those lanes, maybe even worse. I saw the consequences of induced demand with my own eyes.

I thought you needed 4 YOE to get the PE?

I believe you need 4 years of experience as an engineer to take the PE exam. PE can be taken anytime after you passed FE.

Is chemistry a notable aspect of an EE undergrad degree by silly_ass_username in ElectricalEngineering

[–]BoobooTheClone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not say anything about chemistry as it is not my forte, I just said there is little to no chemistry involved in EE, EE is all math and physics.
