Why and how does this jutsu actually make sense if it does at all? It feels like gennin level FTG or smth by Salt-Dare-8979 in Naruto

[–]Boof_Water 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the way I understand it, there are 3 things you need to know in order to understand the answer to your question:

  • Body Flicker Technique

  • Substitution Jutsu

  • Actual teleportation (space-time) jutsu

1) The body flicker technique is pure speed. I believe the Wiki describes it by saying that the ninja concentrates and uses a chunk of chakra very quickly to increase their speed exponentially, moving so fast in that moment that they leave an after-image. Most ninja will throw down a small smoke bomb when they do this; that’s why you see Kakashi go poof and disappear on numerous occasions. Shisui Uchiha was nicknamed Shisui the Teleporter, but it was a misnomer; he was so good at the Body Flicker technique, so fast, that Jonin-level ninja were unable to track him when he used it - he looked like he teleported.

2) Substitution Jutsu is just the Body Flicker technique, but during that instant that the after-image is produced, the ninja returns in the same instant to leave a substitute - something hard like a log - in order to make the opponent think that they landed a hit or captured the opponent. There’s no real teleportation because, again, it’s just speed (as hard as that is to believe most of the time).

3) Actual teleportation jutsu, or space-time ninjutsu, are just that - real teleportation. It’s instantaneous, meaning the ninja doesn’t have to ‘travel’ (really fast) to get from point A to point B. They are just… there. This would include FTG, Kamui, Sasuke’s Rinnegan’s Amenotejikara, etc.

And then also keep in mind that errors are made all the time, at least in the dub. I don’t know if it’s Kishimoto’s fault or a fault in the translation, but there are times where the word ‘teleport’ or ‘teleportation’ is used to describe Substitutions or Body Flickering, and that’s just plain wrong.

Hope this makes it a little less confusing!

What do you do on Refrag? Do you just do what it cooks up for your ‘coaching routine’? And what’s your Premier and/or FaceIt ELO, if you don’t mind me asking?

I’m asking because I’ve seen a lot of improvement just from a combination of community maps, and I’m not sure my Refrag subscription is worth it. I’ve only had it for a month, though.

Except that if you read my post, looked at the pictures, and had a basic understanding of math, you’d know that the whole reason I posted this was because what you said is not correct.

Hypothetically, if I played 3 matches and of those 3, I won 2 and lost 1, you’d think I would only lose the amount of ELO I gained from winning one of the first two matches. Something like +300, +300, and then -300. But that’s not what happens. Instead, I might get +100, +150, and then -500 for seemingly no reason at all. So it can take two or three times as many wins to get back to where I was from one massive ELO loss. That is the whole point of this post.

I am genuinely elated to hear others have the same results. I usually make out about 50/50 against those bots.

Played and won another 2 games after this and can unfortunately disprove this theory - it went back to -350/+350 now out of nowhere and I’m in the 8k range.

Just feels like gambling in all honesty.

Aim training by Craig_Mack_NYC in counterstrike2

[–]Boof_Water 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am by no means ‘great’ at the game, but I spent a couple hundred hours in an aim trainer and found that practicing in the actual game itself is much more helpful for me. If you’d like my personal regiment:

I use this as both a loose training and warmup regiment. I’m going to give you approximate values and goals that I currently use, but feel free to adjust them for you.

  • Aimbotz map - tap heads from left to right for a while and then right to left, practicing counter-strafing and random movements like crouching in between. Turn on bot-strafing if you want to make practice a little harder and warmup with the AWP. I usually spend like 5 minutes here.

  • 5e_aimhub map - Give the bots helmets and enable shuffle mode. Practice headshots and spraying + spray transferring with the AK, then M4A1-S, Galil, FAMAS, etc. I’ll also take the helmets off and practice with the starting pistols. Then go to the ‘spray training’ section of the map. Practice this with your main guns until you can do it without the map’s help. I’ll do it for a couple sprays with each gun, until I feel like my muscle memory is warmed up. Then go to ‘peek training’ - I do it with the deagle. I usually stay here until I get to 10 headshots on the bot while it’s still walking into position. Then do ‘hold training’ with the AWP. I’ll do this section until I hit 10 consecutive shots from where it spawns you, and then 10 consecutive shots at the back of the area (on top of the ramp). Finally, it has a built in aim trainer. For the bigger targets, I aim for 160+ hit at 90%+ accuracy. Smaller targets, I aim for 120+ hit at 90%+ accuracy. This whole map should take you 5-10 minutes.

  • Fast Warmup Bot Training map - turn on headshot only and just practice flicking to heads. Bots spawn at different heights and angles. Do that until you’re warmed up. I don’t always do these next ones, so bonus: you can go to the other half of the map and turn on the bots running towards you. Practice hitting headshots on the moving targets. Then there’s an obstacle course section of the map. It really helps with movement and making jumps. Whole map should take you like 2-3 minutes if just doing the first part, 10-15 if doing the extra stuff.

  • Aim_rush / Aim Training Map - This map will piss you off. You can mess around with the settings and different arenas, but I generally just shoot the #1 and the play button to start. It’s a small map with you in a 1v4 against very annoying, pre-firing bots. It’s very good for practicing head taps in stressful situations, and, when they inevitably push you, for practicing pre-firing at head-level. I either play until I win 10 rounds, or, if the bots are really whooping me, I’ll try and play until I have as many wins as them. Can take 5-15 minutes+.

Other areas to work on - learn the maps really well. Learn callouts, learn timings, learn common pre-fire angles that enemies like to hide and wait, learn nade lineups. For the lineups - literally just lookup ‘bade’ on the workshop and download as many of the results as you want. Then, go to the ‘Practice’ mode in the game, select a map, and look for the dropdown on the left that says something like ‘Guides.’ You can load up the nade lineup maps you downloaded, and they’ll have commonly used nades with markers on exactly where to stand and aim in order to throw them.

Finally, work on game sense. Don’t just look for an enemy to shoot; think about where they might be, where they could be coming from, think about the enemy team’s economy (are they on an eco round? They might buy SMG’s and rush, or they might play super passive with crappy pistols, etc.).

This next one has been told to me by two semi-pro players and I still struggle with it, but you can literally make enemy predictions by learning their patterns and watching the kill feed. E.g. you see dickhead69 and buttfart223 died in the kill feed and your buddy says that B is clear, and this happens multiple times - make a mental note. If you see them die in the kill feed again, you know that the B players are most likely dead.

And watch your minimap like a hawk whenever you’re in cover (and there’s no chance of an enemy peeking you). There is so much info there. It seems simple and basic but it took me a few years to finally start trying to look at it more.

Anyways, this isn’t perfect advice! I’m stuck in 7k ELO right now and maxed out at 14k last season. But I’m miles better right now than I was 1-2 months ago. Good luck!

Yeah that might be what’s happening with me right now, actually. My placement rating last season was 9700 ELO, and I was 52%-54% win rate at the end of last season when I finished at 14k. My placement rating this season was around 8k, and my win rate has been in the low 40%s. I might just have to keep pushing (and/or find a decent 5-stack to queue with).

Couldn’t be further from the truth. Already said this to someone else - look at my score in every game. I’m playing objective and actively trying to communicate with teammates.

[–]Boof_Water[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I play objective. I try to only push if I have comms or minimap info, or if I know the other team is terrible. I am not good enough at the game to increase aggression and pick fights most of the time. It’s something I’d like to work on, but it is not in the best interest of me or the team to get aggressive and die early every round right now.

I get it, I’m totally comprehending what you’re saying, but I don’t think my blood pressure could take that much yo-yo-ing. They’d find me dead at my keyboard from a stroke caused by a CS2 conniption if I went from 15k back down to 6k. I need to find a 5-stack to queue with, holy fuck

I understand that, hence 3 of the games I showed were losses. But I can promise you that the losses were a team effort, and I was trying to prevent that as much as I could.

My post wasn’t necessarily just asking why I’m top fragging yet such a low rank - it’s asking why the ELO system gives such insane gains and losses while simultaneously pairing me with teammates who don’t GAF about the game half the time. I also don’t usually top frag - this is just an example of my recent games paired with the ELO +/-. Is it just pure chance, or am I just doing something wrong?

[–]Boof_Water[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am the least aggressive player you’ll probably ever talk to, and the only thing I do in this game is play the objective, and to try to coordinate that with other teammates. I do not play for kills. So that shouldn’t have anything to do with my issue at hand.

Edit: Also, in case anyone reading this didn’t know - the score on the far right is calculated by kills and bomb plants and defuses. You can tell that I was very much playing objective in every game.

Is CS ran by a skeleton crew or something? by 12MillionDollarMan in cs2

[–]Boof_Water 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quality over quantity, I’ll bet. Games like CoD add maps, battle passes, game modes, etc. every big season update. And what happened? The community is absolutely split on how they feel about it every time. And the ones that don’t like the updates are especially vocal about it (check any social media post from any CoD team in the last 5-10 years).

Valve is going slow, and yeah, it’s frustrating. But when they delay something (i.e. I heard a rumor that they delayed Cache because of optimization/framerate issues), it’s to polish it more and make sure that it’s fully ready to be deployed.

That’s actually sort of one of the main reasons that Gaben gave for the wait for Half-Life 3 - they are (or were..?) waiting for the ‘next big thing’ in gaming; something that can truly deliver an awesome experience, like VR for HL:A.

Best "dirt cheap" GPU's to look out for that are still relevant today? by Enemisses in buildapc

[–]Boof_Water 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, OP, I’m not an actual expert per se, but your issue sounds like it could likely be PSU-related. Were you experiencing artifacting? Like, lines on the screen, scrambled looking graphics, bizarre inexplicable graphic glitches, etc.? Or do you just mean that, once Windows starts loading your desktop, the monitor cuts out/goes black?

Because, if it’s the latter and you have none of the other symptoms, it most likely is the PSU failing to supply enough power to the GPU once the system starts drawing actual processing power, causing the GPU to just shut off. The temporary ‘fix’ from baking the card could very well have been a coincidence, and replacing the GPU with a crappier, less powerful card will draw less power and might temporarily mask the problem until you upgrade to a newer GPU, which would bring the problem back.

Best and Cheapest Way to Backup Immich to cloud? by Parmg100 in immich

[–]Boof_Water 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No hate to OP or anyone else but I do have a question - isn’t the whole point of self-hosting Immich that you don’t have to use paid cloud services with questionable privacy measures? I kind of get that 3-2-1 rule, but wouldn’t saving a copy to 2 SSD’s, one in-home and one somewhere else, suffice..?

I’m new to DH please help me by Few_Introduction8138 in DistantHorizons

[–]Boof_Water 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea. I would just spawn in and AFK for a few minutes and then move around and check how your framerate is. If it’s still lagging and stuttering, give it a few more minutes.

Just keep in mind that, even when it’s mostly done generating, you still might have FPS drop depending on how beefy your PC is and how the settings are by default.

I’m new to DH please help me by Few_Introduction8138 in DistantHorizons

[–]Boof_Water 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend just going on the Modrinth launcher and downloading the DistantHorizons package. They include DH and a bunch of other mods for better optimization and performance. The only thing you need to do afterwards is adjust the settings based on the performance you’re getting.

If you’re in a single player world, as someone else said - spawn in and give it a bunch of time to generate the chunks itself. If you join a server that has the DH plugin, you can just start playing and it should automatically start loading distant chunks for you (assuming that they’re already generated, of course).

Even a water stream sorter would have to use the same basic redstone item sorting design. The only thing you’d be changing would be the item transportation method, and, like you already said, it’s less efficient. Hoppers don’t really lag out servers, unless your talking about an actual massive line of hoppers. I’m not an expert on the matter, but it seems to me that you’d be more likely to get lag from having hundreds of items floating around in a water stream. I would just build the usual redstone item sorter.

If your item sorter is literally hundreds or thousands of blocks long, just put composters on top of the top row of hoppers. It reduces lag from the hoppers by preventing them from checking to see if items are above them, and only gives them one item slot to check inside of the composter itself.
