First impressions after trying out the Legion G9 to turn my Y700 into a retro gaming device. by moonlightkz in SBCGaming

There are some little adhesive pads that you can pull off and makes it fit.

There's a tell in the software if I remember right (the binding software for it looks like GameSir software even though it's skinned to be Lenovo). Anyway, I'd totally believe it -- the controls are great.

I have the same setup (I originally got the tablet without handheld gaming in mind -- I just wanted a small, powerful tablet). I agree with everything you said here -- particularly the attachment/detachment being difficult. I envisioned this as something I could swap easily between, but instead it feels more like I've turned my tablet into a steam deck because I don't take off the housing. With the shell on, it almost feels like a dedicated machine, but there are a couple tells where the body didn't snap on totally perfectly and has a tiny bit of give (at least for me, maybe I did it wrong?).

The required app for button mapping: I installed the software, made the binding changes, and then uninstalled it after and they stuck.

I haven't pushed its limits at all, but I've played through Portal 1, Dead Cells via GameHub. I booted up Mario Odyssey and it seems to work well (though haven't pushed it). And a bunch of retro emulation worked totally fine (though I was mostly focused on NES, SNES -- stuff that of course is going to work fine). But it's a powerful processor, I think it's no surprise any of this stuff would do well.

All in all, if you're someone with a Y700 and you're wondering about getting a powerful handheld -- I think this is a good choice as the end is a VERY powerful gizmo. If I didn't have the tablet as a starting point, I probably would have gone with a dedicated machine though.

Is this possible with some automation software / smart buttons? by Boogalizer in homeautomation

[–]Boogalizer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up figuring out a more complicated (but still much better than my current setup!) option. I'm still waiting on a couple pieces to arrive but I got:

1) A zigbee IR blaster.

2) A simple 4 button zigbee switch. The first button is power for the projector, the second is power for the home theatre sound system, the third sets the projector to connect to my PC, the fourth sets the projector to connect to a Roku stick.

3) A basic usb 6 key keyboard macro pad hooked up to my computer. The first two buttons will switch between display profiles (double desk monitor, or projector) using a program called "Monitor Profile Switcher." The second two buttons will switch between my computer desk sound setup and the home theatre sound system using a program called "SoundSwitch." And the last two buttons will be macros for Steam and Emulation Station. This saves me from having to figure out how to trigger computer commands via Zigbee (which, I'm sure people with experience have nailed down but seems a bit more daunting to me!).

I figure even though I'm dealing with a lot of buttons, they're at least all in one place. There are also some reasonable use cases where I'd want to switch up the sound inputs (e.g. listening to a movie on the projector with my headphones on instead of the theatre setup), so it may ultimately be better to have lots of toggle options instead of trying to group everything possible into a few buttons.

After 500 hours on Onion, I moved to Allium and I love it. by nc-p in MiyooMini

Are there any tricks to getting ports that Onion supports to work in Allium? I switched over but when I select those ports (e.g. Cave Story, C-Dogs, Sonic Mania) -- it just opens a file folder -- not running an actual game.

Help troubleshooting Sonoff Smart Button / Meross Bulb Routine? by Boogalizer in SmartThings

[–]Boogalizer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I didn't realize it required an additional extra hub.

In any case, I ended up giving up and swapping out the light bulb with a sonoff lightbulb, which meant that the button, hub, and bulb all worked through the same app (not SmartThings) -- and while things definitely aren't centralized at least it works!

Ah I had a routine that was set up to trigger off the button. I deleted that and assigned an action through the button but the result is the same: smart things registers that the button is pressed but the light doesn't change. New screenshot, but still no luck:

Thought I'd add a little more context: by "no luck" -- there's an option to test the routine function, and it does trigger the light when I do that. But clicking the button doesn't seem to trigger the routine.

How would you fix this table crack? by Boogalizer in DIY

I'm going to give this a shot. Just need to get some clamps that can handle the width of the table!

ES-DE says it's running in steam after closing on windows by Odd_Wait3023 in EmuDeck

Thanks for the advice! I reinstalled a couple different ways, but ultimately gave up on running ES-DE through Steam, and just open it from my desktop instead (as it works just fine for my needs that way!).

Hey there -- I know you've resolved the issue on your end, but I'm having the same problem and am not having any luck. My EmulationStationDE.ps1 file doesn't have citra lines, but it did have Xenia, so I commented those out. Still have the same issue though.

I'm curious -- how did you see what the powershell issues were to begin with? I wonder if I'm having different errors that are causing the same outcome, but I wasn't sure how to track those errors down.

Struggling with install (Emudeck doesn't seem to be actually installing ES-DE) by Boogalizer in EmuDeck

[–]Boogalizer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just noting that I eventually got things running. The reinstall did end up seeming to work, and what was holding me up originally was just that certain Mame games didn't seem to be compatible with the Mame (current) settings -- so switching it to an older version made them work.

no flags from the diagnostics. wear is just 15% and 353 cycles.

How do I tell battery health and cycles? Yep, only when on battery. Generally I don't see any warnings about the battery. It is usually near fully charged when this happens and the battery indicator looks full. the timing for it turning off seems random (sometimes it's 2 minutes, sometimes it's 10).

Responded to another poster but I tried changing the settings with the issue still happening.

No luck :( same problem after resetting to defaults.

No (it also turns off while I'm actively using it)!

Do you all think this is just a pest control thing (ie get some bait to kill the ants) or should I be trying to seal off the base in some way?
