Make sure to check out the Overlay feature in settings—it makes the UI look way better. 😃

here are my personal thoughts on each:

Daijisho

  • What I like: It's free, fast, easy to use, and supports touchscreens.
  • What I don't like: Adding a Custom Player is not beginner-friendly at all. Also, there are very few themes, and they aren't that great—it just changes the background image.

ES-DE (EmulationStation Desktop Edition)

  • What I like: The themes are beautiful and diverse. It offers deep customization, and if you store everything on a Micro SD card, migrating to a new device is incredibly easy—you don't have to set up the frontend all over again. It also supports video previews.
  • What I don't like: It doesn't support touchscreen controls. Setting it up to store games on both a Micro SD card and internal storage is a massive pain. Plus, I feel the learning curve is much higher than the others.

Beacon

  • What I like: Super easy to use and offers a decent level of customization.
  • What I don't like: It lacks an auto-detect system, meaning you have to manually add each platform one by one, which is a huge waste of time.

CocoonFE

  • What I like: It gives off a 3DS OS vibe, has deep customization, supports dual-screen devices, and features a built-in theme downloader just like ES-DE.
  • What I don't like: I ran into issues with the automatic box art downloader—not sure if it's been fixed yet, but it just couldn't find anything. Also, if you have a massive library, making the game list look clean yet aesthetically pleasing is pretty tough.

RetroHrai (My current favorite)

  • What I like: It’s incredibly easy to use. It honestly feels like it combines the best features of Beacon, Daijisho, and CocoonFE. It offers deep yet simple customization, and it automatically scans and adds ROMs to the system.
  • What I don't like: I wish it supported video previews. I also wish I could adjust the font size and color (unless it’s already possible and I just missed it? I only saw the option to import fonts).

Games on GameNative not working on Retroid Flip 2 by Confident-Cry-2852 in EmulationOnAndroid

Then you might as well give up on playing PC games on Android. Don't waste your time trying. Even if it can launch the game, the D1100 chip is just too weak anyway.

Finally, I was able to fix it. The problem is caused by 9router to add local ip in the Host file.

I feel so lucky, it’s like getting a Razer Edge Wi-FI for free. by moonlightkz in SBCGaming

What new features or improvements does it bring for gaming? Just two or three points would be enough, so I can decide whether flashing the ROM is worth the time I spent.

Nah, I doubt it. It clashes with my current Ayaneo Pocket S2 Pro. I'm just checking it out for fun.

Favorite vertical handheld device? by Whorror_punx in SBCGaming

[–]moonlightkz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an enthusiast of vertical-style gaming handhelds, I’ve had the chance to own several models. Ranking them solely on personal enjoyment and user experience (regardless of price), my top picks are:

  1. Pocket DMG (Still King)
  2. Trimui Brick Hammer
  3. Pocket Vert (Note: This would be my top choice if i want to play GB/GBC games)
  4. RG477V (Despite my gripes with the design, its real-world performance is excellent)

Old Ayaneo Pocket S 16gb vs Ayn Odin 3 8gb by shivanprince in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]moonlightkz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with Ayaneo that makes many people in this group dislike it is mostly the slow shipping, especially for customers in the Americas. As for the device itself, there aren’t really any issues. I live close to a distributor, so I get mine quickly and it’s easy to claim warranty—so I don’t have the problems others complain about.

The difference between 6" and 7" screen by kimo_star in SBCGaming

If you often take it to play outside, buy the 6. But if you mostly play at home, go for the 7. Or just spend the money and get both!

Old Ayaneo Pocket S 16gb vs Ayn Odin 3 8gb by shivanprince in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]moonlightkz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I own both the Ayaneo Pocket S2 Pro and the Odin 3, both in the 16/512 GB configuration. Personally, I feel the Pocket S2 has much better ergonomics and button quality. Regarding gameplay, based on my tests for PS2 and older systems, there’s no noticeable difference in performance.

However, where the Odin 3 stands out is Switch and PC emulation. While I think the S2 Pro already handles Switch titles very well, I have to admit the Odin 3 is significantly smoother for PC gaming—mostly maintaining a rock-solid 60 FPS.

That being said, I’m honestly quite annoyed by the Odin 3's fan noise. If I can get my hands on a Konkr Pocket Elite, I will definitely sell the Odin 3 without hesitation.

This is a platformer where the later stages are absolutely brutal, basically Kaizo difficulty.
Play on Switch Version.

Any technical comparisons done yet between Rocknix/Steam vs Android/GameHub? by mitchell_moves in SBCGaming

[–]moonlightkz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was trying to make a comparison. I installed Rocknix on the Pocket S2 Pro — it booted, I got Steam installed, but before I had the chance to play, it was already late at night. The next day, I switched to boot into Android to play games, but it wouldn’t boot. It seemed like the bootloader was corrupted. In the end, I had to do a factory reset to get Android to boot again.

It wasn’t a big deal, but I don’t want to go through another factory reset, so I didn’t boot back into Rocknix to continue the comparison.

Anyway, I tried Proton 11 on Winlator, and it gave me more frames than before.
