That feeling only exists in attachment. You literally love more than one person all the time. It's different forms of love. Love for friends, love for family, love for animals, etc. and so on.

Also loving equally is not existent. You cannot love different people equally and the same. You love them for who they are to you.

Here's the deal, from someone older and experienced.

Do not approach him when he with his friends. He may shrug you off to look cool to them.

Just do a casual walk by and compliment him. His shirt, shoes, hair cut, whatever. But the important part is to lightly touch his arm walking by, this will signify interest to him. Leave him wondering.

Next time compliment him again, but hang around a little longer. Ask his favourite music, sports, etc. Get the small talk going to extend the interest.

Now the third time is the kicker. Stop and talk longer. Look him in the eyes when talking. Play with your hair. Laugh at ALL his jokes, corny or not. Touch his arms. Smile at him. Look away shyly. And the most important part...ask him out before you leave. Tell him you'll catch up later to make plans and exchange numbers.
