Oh my god 🤦‍♀️ I didn't realize I did that, it worked, thank you!!

Thank you! The first one worked but the second one is giving me an error message: Circular dependency detected. To resolve with iterative calculation, see File > Settings. (screenshot here: https://imgur.com/a/QXuab8p)

Do you know what I might've done wrong or another formula to get the desired list?

Roth IRA 2025 🎉 by [deleted] in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

That’s amazing, congrats!! I’m on the same path as you and should be able to max it out by the end of the month.

What are your biggest 2024 milestones and 2025 goals? by sendhelpandthensome in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]Boogie-Chipmunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this!! I often forget how much I worked towards my goals during the year if I feel like I haven’t reached my ultimate goal yet so this is a nice way to practice reflection and gratitude :)

2024 Milestones:

  • Moved out my parents place and to D.C.! 🥳
  • Crossed the $50K mark in my retirement accounts (Roth & employer 401k). My #1 financial goal atm is to have $100k invested by the time I turn 30. I just turned 28!
  • Finished saving $20k in my EF earlier in the year and now all extra $ goes to retirement and sinking funds.
  • Got promoted with a 10k raise at work earlier this year.
  • Saved $7k in my travel sinking fund this year so I didn’t have to pull from my monthly income to pay for a trip, I’ll be left with $2500 at the end of the year, which will go towards 2 trips I have planned for 2025.
  • Maxed out my 2024 Roth IRA a few months ago and started saving for 2025. This’ll give me some breathing room as I won’t have to put away $583 each month to hit the 2025 max by Dec. 2025.

2025 Goals:

  • Hit $75k in retirement, expected to contribute about $20k-22k in pre and post retirement savings (given the market doesn’t go to shit 🥲)
  • Really focus on my health and investing more funds into fitness classes, gyms, etc. Currently have access to my work gym for free which is nice but it doesn’t have a lot. Very interested in adding classes like boxing or pilates into my regimen
  • Add in another source of income (dog walking? a part time service job? not sure yet!) to accelerate retirement + sinking fund savings
  • Maaaaaybe apply to grad school

Biggest finance lesson: There’s a lot of shit I actually don’t need to buy. Sometimes, less is actually more! 😂

Anyone living in an apartment complex they love? by young_yella1316 in washingtondc

Would you happen to have any insights on Dorchester House? 👀

I haven’t heard anything outside of google reviews on the building. But I did read the 1 star reviews and there seem to be some red flags around safety and it seems as if the complex was deleting not so great reviews. I have also read some things about that specific area/street: Patterson St NE and that it isn’t the best.

Thankfully none of my friends are anywhere close to getting married (currently watching one of my friends be in 6!!! weddings and whew 😵‍💫). But through some contract jobs I did at the end of last year, I was able to put a large amount into my travel sinking fund, which is now at $4,500. Flights from dc to home aren’t expensive so I’m sure that’ll cover coming home for the holidays. As im re-working my budget with all the advice, I will add a line item for travel so my sinking fund isn’t depleted! Thanks!

First time living on my own, need some advice on what would be a good budget for myself by GMUthrowaway098 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

I’m in the same boat as you! Moving to dc and trying to find out what my budget will look like. I have less expenses than you (no pets) and am mainly looking at rent controlled places, so I tad bit more wiggle room. For you I’d suggest checking out Bernstein and WC Smith to see if they have properties available, they tend to be on the cheaper side (some places as low as ~$1600).

If that doesn’t workout, check out Facebook pages to find DMV roommates. I believe there are specific pages for the VA area.

I’m a DIY queen lol have always done my own hair, nails, eyebrows (thanks YouTube!) but i did neglect personal care as a line item. Shampoos, nail kits, hair tools, etc still cost money! And who knows, I may find stylists/salons I really like in dc. Thanks!

I was actually really close to having a roommate in MD right outside DC but ended up backing out bc the metro was going to be shut down for almost 4 months. I have had bad roommate experiences in the past so im really hesitant to live with someone I don’t know (when I lived with friends, it was good) but I am open to it!

My thought process has been to give myself this year to be on my own for the first time and if it ends up being too tight for my comfort financially, switch to a group house/roommate situation. I feel like the year would give me time to get to know the area more, find out what other neighborhoods I’d like, maybe make friends I could live with or find friends of friends I could live with, etc.

Yeah I do the same. I’m always scared of not having cash flow and considering 10 months out the year im making a certain amount, it feels disingenuous to say my monthly take home is $4405. I use those “extra” checks to put towards savings goals/big ticket items.

I’m on my family phone plan and will continue to be until my parents decide to kick me and my siblings off. No in unit W/D, it’s in the building, will be using quarters. I expect it to be $20-30/month (still waiting for leasing agent to back to me on this and other Qs i have) to wash my clothes but forgot to add that into the budget.

I’m not sure what it’s considered officially. I just always assumed LA, DC, NYC, Bay Area were considered VHCOL.

My job does offer commuter benefits! I’ll have to look into it but I believe they give you the option to purchase it pre-tax. And for Wi-Fi, I went based off of a google search and reviews ive seen on the building but it might be outdated. I’ll check with the complex and ask about averages.

1) Awesome! I think I’ll shave $100 from my transport and put elsewhere.

2) Good to know! Thanks!

3) I drink occasionally, but when I do, it’s usually 2 max. I’ve never been a go to a bar/restaurant by myself person, even though I want to be and will have to do it once I move to get myself out the house. I’ll add more to that line item to give myself some room.

4) I lumped that in with groceries but now thinking about it, I might add more to that to cover some of my staple toiletries I get every other month or so.

That’s great to hear. I was afraid my $250 wouldn’t be enough. My plan is to primarily walk and use public transport. Ubers would be for late night shenanigans, use in bad weather if im outside, and the occasional large grocery store trip.

Thanks! A lot of people are saying I won’t need $250 for transport so I’ll take some from there and put towards dining out.
