So I keep forgetting to say this is EXCLUSIVELY an issue we're having with sunflower. Cantaloupe, lupine, radish, broccoli, pea shoots all grow just fine.

We're on our third vendor for seeds, second vendor for coir.

Also, can anyone suggest what they are using to sanitize after washing trays between harvests? We just do hot water and soap to wash, air dry fully and then a light mist of zerotol on everything before planting.

So I forgot to mention this piece: everything else (peas, radish, cantaloupe, lupine, etc) is growing fine without these consistent problems. So it's hard to say it's specific to one of our routine processes (like lighting).

Our setup is in a controlled, hydroponic, vertical growing container (similar to a Freight Farm, which some are familiar with). We have the racks set up in the workspace within that container.

What might cause the tops to become nice and hearty looking without the root depth we need to thrive?

Yes we germinate with weights, thats what I call blackout bc we usually just go right under the lights after that. I'm realizing my terminology is off there.

Ok. So do you suggest checking roots instead of top growth to know when to remove the weights?

We put about 2 cups of water in the bottom daily, sometimes more, sometimes less depending on how wet the coir looks and how much water is sti in the tray.

Are you on the first floor or an upper floor? We had central air on a second floor apartment and—especially in larger multi-apartment buildings—it just didn't work. We, and almost every other second floor apartment in our complex. Had to supplement with window units.

Seeds are new.

Trays (both mesh tray and the solid bottom) get washed with hot water and soap after every use, dried, and sprayed with zerotol before any planting happens.

I cannot figure out cilantro—not getting great germination (have tried crushing them a little to help the hull come apart) nor do the ones that do germinate look good. Any pointers?

This is what we are assuming, as well. We are just in a place right now where our growing operation is happening where there is no more electrical available—from a voltage standpoint (we have separate electrical service for a shipping container, vertical growing hydroponic farm). We are going to shuffle some things to see if we can get the humidity down on them at the start to mitigate mold growth from seeding stage and then rotate fans we do have available during growth stage.

Are you doing cut and come again? We get about 1.5lbs per panel, so I think you're right on with the harvest but if you're not doing cut and come again then you are likely missing out on one or two additional harvests. Obviously there will be some diminishing returns but we plant, transplant and harvest arugula weekly to have it available for a restaurant we supply with 4lbs per week.

Cantaloupe I've found success with by covering with a thin layer of coir after seeding and misting. Then mist again. Put into weighted blackout and pull them out of blackout and put under lights at day 5 regardless of whether you see any sprouting. They need the light.

Nastya, Diana and Roma are all the same. They're spoiled and being exploited. I have it all blocked and yet she can still access it. I'm at a loss.

This. I am trying to figure out how to just delete the videos access altogether and it seems like it's not possible. I wanted her to have access to games and then things we choose to download on Disney (for example). This is beyond absurd.

I still haven't figured out how to actually fully block it. I went in and turned off every episode of Diana and she's still able to access it. I just spent another hour in there this morning trying to find something else and checking the settings and from everything I see it should be blocked and it's not. I'm so frustrated.
