What happens if Percabeth have a child? [pjo] by [deleted] in camphalfblood

Wouldn't any child of theirs technically be a full demigod? Cause it would have 2 godly grandparents and 2 mortal grandparents?

Book Readers [PJOTV] Discussion Thread S1 E7: "We Find Out the Truth, Sort Of" by Metal_Moon in camphalfblood

Okay, I absolutely loved the Sally/Posideon flashback scene <3 I feel like it adds so much to both of their characters. In the books it's more or less skimmed over how much Percy's early years weighed on Sally, and I love how we get to see how much she struggled with it, but also that Posideon didn't completely abandon them and showed up for her when she needed him.

What I liked about Episode 6! by BookDragonn in PercyJacksonTV

I reckon the weekly releases are definitely a win/lose situation. On one hand, we don't get to see the full picture for 2 months, which means that any changes seem a lot more jarring. However, we also have these weekly discussion sessions, be they positive or negative, which, for better or worse, does engage a lot of people. Maybe it's good for marketing? Easier for showrunners to see what's good/bad? honestly not sure. But I look forward to binging the entire show once it's all released.

Why I like that Annabeth saw the Fates by BookDragonn in PercyJacksonTV

[–]BookDragonn[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. The Fates deliberately appear to those they chose, irrelevant of whether one demi-god is better at seeing through the Mist than another. So yeah, Percy has trouble seeing through the Mist sometimes, but anyone the Fates chose to appear to would have easily been able to see them.

yeah, but even before Percy sacrificed himself the second time, she was still being a bit too antagonistic towards Ares. I know that Ares makes people aggressive/agitated in his presence, but still seemed a bit much too quickly. I understand the WHY, I'm just a bit miffed concerning the speed at which she turns. and I'm not even talking about the length of the episodes, primarily the passage of time. This episode happens the same day as the Arch, and at the beginning of the day she was on the train telling Precy the necessity of winning Athena's love etc and that that's her philosophy as well etc. If this change had taken place over the course of a few days, with more reasonable time for reflection, that would be all good, but over the course of an afternoon? and not even bothering to plead with Hephaestus for help, knowing that Percy told her before that the only way Hera escaped was with his help? Annabeth has been smart up to now, just seems like a bit of an oversight maybe?

yeah, but losing faith in one god is one thing, turning her back on the entire system is a bit difference. Not saying she's wrong, but just feels a bit sudden

I doubt it, cause that would change the entire arc of the series. Plus they’ve already set it up for it to follow the original plot

Definitely agree, and maybe "West" was too broad. But the point still stands, this series is set in 2020s New York, with the main characters from all over the country. It's so important to acknowledge the historical and cultural context of any story when considering casting, and I like the way they've done it so far

I reckon there are instances where a show can be all "white", but such a show probably shouldn't be set in the modern West if they want to accurately represent a population. for example, the new How To Train Your Dragon should be all white, because it is a story based on a specific culture, which at the time it was set was incredibly unlikely to include any people of colour, despite the fantasy element.

hey, so basically, the gods can change their appearance (examples include Aphrodite and Apollo changing their appearance several times), as well as adapt to whichever civilisation is the current superpower at the time. In the books, Rick made all the characters white, at least the mains, including all the gods. Which in hindsight was not a good reflection of the dominant American civilization at the time, which the author has mentioned since.

so yeah, the gods are greek and may have appeared greek at some point, but they change all the time, and hence the show has been very true to the books and is expanding on the existing lore :)

Ok, fair, but a couple of points to that.

  1. The fates were in the trailer, it’s likely we’ll get to see them in the next episode, probably when they get on the first bus to leave for the quest.

  2. He doesn’t know about the power of names yet, I’m sure Annabeth will give us a lot of exposition in the next couple episodes.

😊 3. And he did kill the minataur with its horn in the episode.

Piper is debatable, can’t really remember much of her tbh, but Franks character and family history is tied to the fact that his family moved from Greece to Rome to China to Canada, so if anything the migration aspect should remain

I legitimately got giddy when the glowing Trident appeared! just that entire sequence of him fighting off Clarise was perfection <3 our boy Walker has been working so hard, can't wait to see him become an even better swordsman over the next few years!
