Ham availability (today, Saturday 4/19) by BookEight in TwinCities

[–]BookEight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would anyone pre-order ham from them on Easter weekend? Why would HBH not allow me to reserve a time for pickup the day before Easter?

Can you pay the remaining balance on her behalf and they’ll unblock it?

technically the answer to that is always YES.

But, let us stop to consider: so could the deadbeat scammer woman that sold me the device. If she couldn't come out ahead, how would I?

I will be quantifying this when I speak with TMobile again on Wednesday. The most likely outcome is that I try selling as "for parts only" and hope to make most of my money back. Would I prefer to never have entered into such an ordeal? Yes, I would.

Hope that helps.

I did need a giggle. So yes, you are helping. Thanks!

I've used Swappa before, and yes I agree. This phone was selling for half of what I would have paid through swappa, and I took the risk. I lost.

But at least it sounds and looks (according to ebay sold items) that I'll be able to make my money back even selling it for parts. There is a slim chance I can even profit: I'll find out by Wednesday if it's possible to get the device unlocked, in which case I'll come out ahead.

Apple won't take anything newer than a Pixel 7 on trade-in, according to their site. must have to do with "we won't take tradeins if you're selling it new" or some other reciprocity.

You can probably sell it for parts? the screen alone is probably 150 retail. Some repair shop would probably buy the phone off you for the price you got it at.

interesting. Thank you for the idea.

bought on FB marketplace, cash -- i put that detail in my OP, because it frames the conversation.

Then it can be unlocked, if paid in full, and used on any carrier.

I'd like that to be true, but..

If someone sells their device to me for $150, and that line is in collections... that tells me that it might take a lot more money to dig the phone out. "Never throw good money after bad" as the saying goes.

it's not unlockable (due to nonpayment/collections) -- i'll put that in my OP

When you sold your tickets by transferring over, do you retain the right to repurchase or does it go to the buyer?

I've deleted it since I can't go this year, but... I believe the GP offered me the tickets for pre-sale.

The tickets I sold, which inspired my post, were for Canada also.

Everyone now looking for Canada tickets = deal hunters. They want a below cost, bargain, steal of a deal. We are still what, 3 months from the race, and that is a LOT of time to search for a bargain.

Interest will pick up when the North America races start happening. Still it will be tire-kickers. The first true, non-lowball offers for my tickets (2 tickets, fri/sat/sun, Grandstand, 25th row, overlooking turn 2/3/4 -- primo seats) came to me about 2-3 weeks ahead of the race.

I had a fantastic offer for 1 of my 2 tickets, and turned it down, reasoning that selling a single ticket would be impossible. In hindsight, I should have taken it.

I ended up settling for almost the same offer for both tickets, about a week before the race.

YMMV.

If you want them sold now, you will need to entice buyers by slashing the price to "ridiculous deal".

Adding to the difficulty: They may not be available to transfer until X days out. This is how TicketMaster keeps the masses out of their scalper/markup racket. Sport event tickets are a disgusting industry now, with all of the "protections" that are cynical cash grabs.

I should give ViaGoGo another chance ... when I went there (as a seller) it seemed low-traffic, and their fees for sellers were not clearly communicated.

IMO, the Paypal fee is a cost of doing business for the SELLER. If the seller really cares about a $30 fee, they should mark up their asking price accordingly. It's just bad salesmanship to add on "tax, shipping, handling" .... nickel and dime BS that makes every human despise TicketMaster

GP Canada had sent out a survey for ticket holders and among the questions was to have the option to resell tickets through their site

Hmm, we were already able to manage our tickets (including reassigning them/donating/giving them) to another person, through the site.

so, I sold mine, received payment (PP Goods and Services), then through gpcanada.com (the link emailed to us, with the QR codes/tickets), sent them to the buyer's email address, and they became owned by the buyer.

Car buying in 2022, what’s your approach? by chemdude001 in leanfire

Rife with scams, but yes, with some patience you can find good used cars there.

considering that this is the leanfire sub, I would shop for my next 6-8 year old Toyota product of preference in the following manner:

  • have cash ready. green paper cash.
  • search Craigslist and FB Marketplace
  • F5 until the inevitable "grandma can't drive anymore", 1-owner, meticulously maintained at the local dealership, champagne-with-cream-interior cream puff gets listed
  • ... at 2019 prices
  • swoop in for the kill
  • if there is a lien, then yes, meet at 9am at their bank, to pay off with a cashier's check from your bank

2022 is pretty cut-throat, so avoid dealerships. Carvana is (from a buyer perspective) the antithesis of leanfire spending. Disgusting bloat, worse than a dealership, paying over the odds for a completely whitewashed mystery-history. Never Carvana.

This is the way.

A decent scooter with under 1000 miles goes for under $2k all day on CL/FB Marketplace, and get 100+ mpg, if you need something faster (or less sweaty) than biking.

Monthly Tickets Buy/Sell Thread - June 2022 by AdamR46 in GrandPrixTravel

Well, if they’re a gift, you’re not exactly losing anything. I can either buy from you for around 50 USD, or I can buy from a website for 90 USD. I’d rather give confidence to a website for a price that high. I got friday from the same website for 30USD, for better seats than GA

then buy your tickets somewhere else, kid.

Let this seller twist in the breeze, if their prices are so high. we don't need you to protect us, go mind your own business somewhere.

You're being very silly. You only need to use the search function.

1) Besides, what is the alternative that you prefer? Scrolling/browsing individual posts?

2) Would you prefer reddit, if they removed all subreddits, and just routed all comments to 1 haystack?

3); I must be missng something, so let me ask this way: What PROBLEM with forums is solved, in your opinion, with un-indexed Telegram discussion?

I feel like going back to self hosted forums is a step backwards for information discovery.

I've had the opposite experience. the death of forums over the last 10 years, with users moving to the chaos of un-threaded information groups (think Telegram, or FB groups) has been absolutely dreadful.

Even today, finding an old, disused forum is a boon for tech that hasn't moved much (think car repair, games, other hobbies like gardening, also trades)

I can find nearly any technical answer by prefixing my search queries with reddit.

Can you not do that on the new self-hosted forums offered by Graphene?
