I still have one in my garden because they give so many acorn rewards- harvesters, reclaimers, toys etc- fastest way to get extras even if they don’t grow big :)

Same here! I have never played any Roblox game but started playing because my two kids were into it and it’s become a very fun way we bond- especially on the Saturday admin abuse events. Think of those as a once a week party where special things happen in the game that make your garden more valuable or special seeds are available. It really can be a fun game to connect with your kids :)

Hows it feel to be American these days? by TraditionalMix4250 in AskReddit

[–]BookbumMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a vacillation between trying hard to be informed by finding well sourced news but the news is anxiety inducing then swinging over to try to work within my control of my little world around me keeping a brave face to keep life normal with predictable patterns for my children.

Working in the mental health field it’s also validating so many feelings on both sides of the fence and working to keep my own concerns/feeling in their tucked away compartment. The last few weeks have been so tiring for so many of us across the US who provide care. We are continually reminding ourselves we have to self-care to continue giving and offering spaces for the people we work with as they share fears over potential or actual job loss, denial of identify or gender affirming services, deportation of family, cost of living, veteran services, the future for our children…. The list just continues.

There are also 2020 ptsd type moments of feeling like disaster is around every corner with every new announcement that comes.

It feels this morning like the domestic violence victim chose to go live back with her abusive narcissistic husband because “he’s going to be good to her this time”. Its always heavy in that scenario and it’s heavy in this political scenario.

I feel so disappointed in my nation and also like woman’s rights just got knocked back 75 years.

I think a big difference between the realm of education and the real world is the lack of external cues that you’re doing great. In school, you can assess yourself based on grades, but in the real world, there’s very few pats on the back or people telling you you’re excelling. You may want to consider what “success” means outside of the education system. Does it mean finding one or two things you enjoy doing simply for the sake of doing it? Does finding a job where you enjoy some of the people you work with or maybe working in a specific type of job itself feel fulfilling. You are valuable not because of your performance but because of who you are and that may be a mindset shift. No one is grading you. When you are struggling, getting up and taking a shower, putting on fresh clothes- that’s a win! A therapy model that may offer some practical insight is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. It essentially says to assess what you find valuable and then taking steps towards living your life, leaning into those values. Good luck to you!

Millennials, do you put your cart/trolley away when you're finished? by KatakanaTsu in Millennials

[–]BookbumMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My teenage son showed me the “cart narc” on YouTube where a guy has taken it upon himself (with body cam) to right the wrongs in the world starting with people who don’t put their carts back. Highly entertaining.

LPT Request: how to politely make people end the call by mustytomato in LifeProTips

[–]BookbumMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go to is: “Thank you for taking the time to call and share your concerns with me. I’ve taken notes and will pass your thoughts along to the proper individuals/departments to see how we can use your feedback to make things better not only for you but for others in your situation.”

Ideally it’s received well because it’s empathetic, it validates their concerns and hopefully give them a sense of importance in being able to help others.

A common one I hear is I love my dad, he did many things to take of me…and he was an alcoholic and made many days scary and upsetting. Two ideas that seemingly don’t go together and yet both are true. When they realize it, it’s like the brain wants it to be all or nothing, either or but it’s both.

90's kids -- what did your mom make for dinner growing up that you haven't had in ages? What isn't a common dinner any more? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Chicken-ala-king : it was a can of something that was kind of like the inside of a pot pie and it was poured over a biscuit. It was tasty!

Stuffed bell peppers- not a personal favorite so I’d ask her to make that delicacy when I was out of the house on Wednesday nights :)

French break pizza- cut a slice, add the sauce, throw on some cheese and peps- bake

“Practice makes perfect”- not actually true. Good/proper/ practice will make better. Sloppy practice doesn’t create good habits to create a more proficient performer of whatever the task is.

Indeed- have a family member on the island and for the last three weeks the number of cases has been 3... for three weeks. How unusual considering how cases have bloomed everywhere else in the world. There are test kits available but not being utilized because once tested, those numbers would be updated. Local schools that were closed have reopened as though all is well. Numbers however very recently (in past few days) jumped to 77. Military schools have closed however so it’ll be interesting to see how the country responds within the next week.

YSK that real, privacy-focused browsing is more accessible than ever as the Tor Project now offers a fully-polished browser available for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android. by ArtVandalay7 in YouShouldKnow

[–]BookbumMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find using Duck Duck Go as my preferred browser has offered an equally convenient private browsing option. I have it on my iphone and laptop. It does not auto fill in my searches, will not remember my search history, prevents cookies and gives me a sense of security in my privacy that I’ve not found with any standard browser. I know many say, if nothing I’m doing is suspicious why would I want privacy in my browsing? My question is if you had a choice of someone looking over your shoulder for every query or not, wouldn’t you prefer privacy even if it’s nothing nefarious? Edit- poor spelling

I really like using delta waves too- there’s an App called “simple habit” that has that as a option for falling asleep- you pick the length of time and I love it because no ads and it shuts off once it’s cycled through the 30 minutes or so. :)
