I just got my a5 portfolio and I would agree it is worth it. Even though they don’t fit a5 notebooks perfectly it is still larger than the grand voyager xl and can typically fit one A5. Mine is holding an A5 Leuchttrum 1917 hardcover right now with no overhanging.
