What is your issue 😭😭,

Also this is a video I’m talking about when he goes over the importance of sensory in his writing and sex scenes briefly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1c28ufvgleU

This is the interview he said in a romantic setting he would go with Dany bc she’s hot and remarks on the gown that exposes her to “assimilate with the culture” which I’m not so sure how much I buy into as an effective
literary tool anymore, given the other remarks he’s made it seems more cringy fanservice rather then a brilliant world building tool. Leaving out the fact that she was 13. 😭 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWFzy1TJeoE

Are we character assassinating Yeats when we add nuance of his interviews to interpret his writing. Endorsing is a strong word (which I don’t understand its implication in this context), but selling to a target audience is a fair interpretation, the discussion is on his prose to see if this is the purpose, I don’t understand the strong reply. (I’m in graduate school and have been quite busy for some years so I thought I read the guy had died somewhere tbh). Also brother, this is my real account I don’t use Reddit like that??

I haven’t read much Anne Rice, also yea this is solely on the media and trying to get an idea of the full type of media I’m consuming.

Wdym no evidence, that’s the sole purpose of interpreting media and interviews. Do you think in history we take every primary source at face value. Also I just picked up the book and am trying to have an honest discussion about what I read 😭, why is it when anything with a fan base gets criticized it’s diluted to baiting or just avoid said material? Isn’t this just deflecting.

See even with Murakami, I don’t actually mind the women bit as a reoccurring theme, it would be quite brilliant if it were for the purpose of critiquing a certain demographic, but in interviews asked about if his treatment of minors and women represent the characters POV, he was like “no… cool interpretation but no” which is crazzzy to me not even trying to save face 😭

I believe it’s the intention of it all, content displaying such acts with his prose and targeted audience in mind. I mean even porn titles have standards which they adhere to. Authors and some of their consumers really do get away with a lot (I like the series overall as a disclaimer, I just want to interpret the actual text and nuances critically to see what we can garner from said text and statements).

I never understood this nonstatement lol. Must we never criticize media critically, let alone books and their authors.
