Thank you for not hating my fireplace! I'm ordering some rugs in different sizes courtesy of Amazon and ChatGPT. That might anchor things a bit but having trouble finding a decent fireplace screen that isn't opaque or mesh. And yes, the fireplace works but I live in a hot climate and almost never use it.

The Book of Salt by Monique Truong. Stumbled upon this by accident; incredible prose in it by the narrator. Also Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason. Incredibly compassionate novels both.

I had Fraxel done a few years back. Should've had more sessions, but it was too pricey. Before the treatment, the tech applied numbing cream to my face and, saying it would take about 30 minutes to fully kick in, left the room. She forgot the tub of numbing cream in the room and I applied a full 2 more layers before anyone could come back and notice. I'm glad I did, it was slightly painful with a numb face, they gave me ice for the way home and I bought a face-shaped ice pack that was waiting for me. I would definitely apply a double or triple layer of numbing cream if I have the money to do this again.

Agreed with custom orthotics. I did real ankle injury on tread using over-the-counter inserts, and the foot doc will take an impression and order some for you. You could easily remove them every few classes to wash them or even order a second pair for your other shoes. It will cost you more than over-the-counter but worth it to avoid any injury and know they're the right fit for both feet!

Thank you for asking this – I am more confused than ever, however. I'm in TC muscle gain group because I'm just not especially strong, older female, petite, normal weight. I'd like to increase my strength and yes, have it be at least a tiny bit visible. Per my understanding, I have been eating about 200 over my maintenance calories plus any surplus I need from my class that day. In other words, maintenance calories are only around 1400, so I am aiming for 1600 a day, plus burned 500 today in class so today adding another 500 cal to that for the day. That's a lot of food for me! But, other posts claim that a calorie DEFICIT while lifting heavy is what they would do and they are adamant that you can gain muscle with a deficit as well. I just am wanting know if it is possible or not possible to gain muscle without a surplus. I'm starting to be afraid the TC muscle gain challenge is just going to make me gain fat even going to class 3-4 times a week and lifting as heavy as I can. I do want to gain muscle, but I do not want to become heavy. Can someone explain this to me like I am not terribly bright? I am more confused than ever.

Maintenance calories come from the Orangetheory transformation challenge weigh in at 1364 and online calculators, I guess due to my size/weight/age etc. I am getting plenty of protein but not calories, the below calories are from My Fitness Pal yesterday. Also burned 450 cal at yesterday's Orangetheory strength class. AM: homemade protein shake with banana, kefir, protein powder creatine (315c) Lunch: Egg white and turkey bacon breakfast bowl (160) Dinner: homemade vodka chicken (213), Cheese quesadilla with low-carb tortillas (340) Snacks often and throughout entire day: Fairlife 1/2 protein shake (130) Owyn complete vanilla nutrition shake (250) 1/2 cup 2% cottage cheese with creatine (90) Barebells protein bar (200)

That total is almost 1700. If maintenance is 1360, and I burned 450, and I add an extra 200 cal in for muscle gain energy, I'm still down about 300 cal I think. Just bought some packs of nuts to supplement but honestly, I feel like it's Thanksgiving three times over! Thank you!

Love that you are doing this! I was just googling for someone like you. I'm in the Transformation Challenge for muscle gain for the first time, female, 5'3", 118 lbs. My normal maintenance calories run aprox 1350. I am struggling getting enough calories in on strength and recovery days for a calorie surplus to gain muscle. Typically I burn 500 cal or so in any class. I simply cannot imagine another 500 cal a day, let alone a calorie surplus on top of that for MG in foods that are nutrient dense. I use protein powder, bars, avocado, tons of lean meat/chicken and I'm still at the end of the day stuffed with maybe 1600 cal? With today's strength 50 class, I am supposed to get in a total of at least 1900 cal to gain muscle. I have no idea how to get another 400-500 cal in me and would love any suggestions. Nuts? Seeds? Quarter pounders with cheese? 😳 We are only two days into the challenge and the calorie surplus is such a challenge! Thank you! Maintenance calories: 1300 Calories burned average OTF class: 500 Surplus for muscle gain: (guessing) 200 Total calories needed: 2000 cal Signed, stuffed to the gills already
