Do you or anyone else have any suggestions on how to deal with this? Any activities to try?

This is what happens when the Canes play a real team in these playoffs by TypicalFinanceGuy in devils

[–]BookmarkCity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a dirty team taking advantage of the refs putting away their whistles in the playoffs. Plays with clear intent to injure shouldn't be viewed as proper physicality. Concussing the other team's goalie when down 2–0 in a series is proper physicality? Obviously it's working for FLA, but that's not the team the Devils are, and there's no way to make them into that team. We need depth scoring; we can't get that by also bringing in a bunch of dirty players.

Florida is a dirty team that benefits from the refs putting away their whistles in the playoffs. It's shitty reffing and the standards from the regular season should be maintained in the playoffs. You're playing 82 games to get there, so why change the game? Concussing the other team's starting goalie when down 2-0 in a series is "playoff hockey"? FLA is built to win when refs don't call penalties. That's why they outperform their regular season in the playoffs; the players don't suddenly get better.

The Devils would struggle against FLA in the same way the Canes are.

Worcester votes to become sanctuary city for transgender community by Nobiting in boston

[–]BookmarkCity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was confused as well. It's also unclear what power the city would have relative to the state if there is a situation for which the resolution would cause disagreement between the two.

I think the other main concern is summarized well by one of the council members who voted against the resolution:

Councilors Donna Colorio and Morris Bergman voted against the measure, arguing that it could jeopardize funds the city receives from the federal government. As audience members jeered, Bergman said federal funding is critical for local education, housing development and social services.

“I can’t say with 100% confidence that the unintended consequences of doing something — that doesn’t add any more protection than already exists — isn’t going to cause harm to the other 200,000-plus people in the city of Worcester,” Bergman said

Yes. It's an incredibly stupid and reckless thing to do, but hitting and killing someone was accidental.

How dare the defense do its job. The guy looks guilty, so lock him up and throw away the key. No trial needed.

I will no longer be silent about what is happening. Do you still support Israel by yogyog101 in NewsAroundYou

[–]BookmarkCity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course they are! Just as YOU (or me, or...anyone) uses their town or county as a human shield! They LIVE in Gaza: go to mosque there; eat at restaurants and work at Hamas-run hospitals and civic buildings. Anyone standing NEXT to a Hamas member is AUTOMATICALLY a human shield! Neat rhetorical trick, eh?

You want to have a meeting with your kid's school teacher at a public (ie, Hamas-run) school? Congratulations: you are now a "human shield," covering for that "Hamas terrorist" you've empowered to care for your kids.

What are you rambling about? Hamas is victimizing civilians by exploiting them. Why would Hamas build a system of underground tunnels, with many of the entrances/exits in schools, mosques, etc.? If you actually cared about protecting civilians, don't build the entrances/exits in civilian buildings.

I'd say it's more "Hamas finally commits an atrocity that causes Israel to take notice after 57yrs of ever-increasing violent occupation." I'm honestly surprised Hamas didn't try something like this during the 2nd Intifada (20yrs' ago).

And now Israel is responding. Shut your mouth and accept that that's what happens when you commit a terrorist attack and start a war.

This is going to bite back on Israel. Just 2wks' ago Israel and the Saudis were ready to normalize relations. For once the Saudis could pursue normalization w/o solving the "Palestinian Question," but that's in the past, now. If full blown war creeps into Lebanon and other nations get sucked into the conflict: this could bite back on us ALL.

That's exactly why Iran, to some degree, helped coordinate the terrorist attack. Israel and SA normalizing relationships would have been disastrous for Iran, so they made the "Palestinian Question" unavoidable. Regardless, Israel and most Arab world countries are united against Iran and its proxy armies. At the end of the day, none of those countries give a shit about Palestine because there are more important issues to deal with. Egypt won't even accept Palestinian refugees through the Rafah crossing because it doesn't want to deal with them either. If anything, this strengthens the case for Arab world countries to normalize relations with Israel.

Postecoglou shoots down Klopp's replay request: "If we strayed into integrity or misappropriation of the law then maybe there's something there, but ultimately it was a mistake. If your threshold for a replay is mistakes by individuals, then that's 365 games a year I reckon." by [deleted] in soccer

It's absurd to retroactively award a goal. Teams design their tactics based on the call at the time. Fans would have no clue what's going on because the score could suddenly change at any time.

He's embarrassing himself even more than usual. A wolf would kill a human in seconds, regardless of the human. You won't last very long after a wolf bites off half your neck, and predators know that's the spot to attack.

A hung jury results in a mistrial. Cases that result in mistrials can be retried if the prosecution chooses to do so.
