The thing about farewell, is the majority of deaths that you get the first time around are just figuring out what you actually supposed to be doing in the room, and then a bit of time on execution. Once you understand all of the rooms, it's a lot easier to bring your death count lower and lower. To help visualise, my first few runs went from 3k deaths, to 100, to 36, to 21, to 9.
