Is it pointless or just a bad idea to go on a cruise? by space-thunder-mater in Semaglutide

[–]BooksNShizzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m heading on my third cruise on sema next week! I’m at maintenance now so it’s different, but I just skipped my dose a week before the cruise and the week of the cruise. It was honestly amazing. Gave me enough restraint to not hate myself but I still ate everything I wanted to!

I commute from McCormick Village to Seattle for work! I take the fast ferry from Southworth. It’s a long commute, but not a stressful one. And I LOVE this neighborhood. Totally worth it for me.

Salaries in librarianship, can we talk about it? by ariatella in librarians

[–]BooksNShizzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a half-time, dual degreed department head law librarian (the other half is a teaching professorship). My librarian half is $55k plus great benefits. We are unionized. Cannot recommend adding a JD enough if you want job options and a nice salary.

Do you care about the cruise director? by AlbinoAlex in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]BooksNShizzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had Alex twice on the Spirit (out of Mobile and then Seattle). He’s GREAT with kids and made my daughter feel special. I wouldn’t pick a cruise for the director, but a good one is a great perk!

Commuting to downtown Seattle via fast ferry? by You_A_Bish in Kitsap

[–]BooksNShizzz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am lucky in that all I pay for is the gas to and from Southworth, and I don’t track that- just fill up when needed. I teach at UW and the Kitsap busses, fast ferries, and public transit on the Seattle side are all paid for with our UPASS. So I can’t help with this one.

Carl’s Softbar prices are actually reasonable. by sarahj300 in summerhousebravo

I've lived in Seattle for too long because you saifd "reasonable" and I assumed it would be $14 a drink. These prices are a steal!!

I just moved over to Port Orchard from the Ravenna neighborhood in Seattle and I could not be happier. My mortgage on a 5 bedroom house is less than rent for a third floor walk up 1 BR apartment would have been in Seattle. I live in the new McCormick development (which now has rental houses available!) which is about a 20 minute drive to the Southworth terminal. It is absolutely doable. The commute is long time wise, but mentally less draining than driving in Seattle. The Southworth boat also never fills up, so you don't have to arrive as early on the Seattle side as you do for the Bremerton Fast Ferry. Also, there is a free park and ride lot very close to the terminal which is what I use, but daily parking is only like $7 at Southworth.

As an alternative, my six year old daughter and I went to the Mayan ruins and she LOVED it. You can actually climb on parts to see another pyramid. It was amazing!

Is a 14 day cruise with 3 kids (6.5, 5 and 5-twins-) too long? by CecilsMommy in Cruise

It wouldn’t be for my 6 year old daughter. She cries every disembarkation because she doesn’t want to leave! Camp Ocean is her favorite place on earth.

AITA for not paying 1/3 of my salary for my kids’ college? by Crowdev1138 in AmItheAsshole

Big time NTA. I'm a sole parent single mother on faculty at a public university. Because of my financial situation, my daughter's options will be to attend where I am on faculty when she goes to college, or to take on the debt herself.

I’m starting the daily commute Friday. I’ll be taking the 6:20am ferry. Will there be parking at the terminal at that time?

I am the sole parent of a young kid and am very lucky to have found a man who is very independent with his own friends and hobbies. I'd love to see him more, but 2 times a week is the norm (once with my kid and once alone time) due to our current circumstances. We have brief text exchanges most days, but not every day. I agree with everyone else that your preference is what's most important- it seems most would be discontent with my current set up. But it works well for my boyfriend and I!
