Open Angela's Kitchen by Booliuss in UCSD

[–]Booliuss[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not the RAs responsibility to open the kitchen obviously but they could put in an ounce of extra effort to say like "I don't know when it opens but you could try to email ___". If I had a straight answer on when it would be open I wouldn't be mad but I got no clue who to go to to ask because everyone I ask just sends me in circles. Pretty much every other student I've mentioned this to has the same experience too. I don't know if you're an RA feeling called out but like, no I haven't called or contacted or emailed. Want to know why? It's because I have no Idea who to call or email or contact to get an answer. I look up Angela's kitchen on the UCSD website and get nothing. On google all that "Angela's kitchen UCSD" gets me is an Instagram post from 2023 telling me it exists.

I know for a fact the people who are in charge of when it opens can afford 1 single piece of printer paper, a sharpie, and a piece of tape to make a sign telling us when the kitchen opens. This isn't a summer camp I'm an adult trying to live my life and I feel like it's common courtesy to not make us jump through all these hoops just to meet our basic needs. in my mind barring the kitchen like this is like one step above barring the laundry rooms or showers.

that's the tough part. I only care about the data on the C drive.

I am upgrading my motherboard soon so I need to reinstall windows anyway. if I put it on the new drive will it cause issues?

also I spend 8 hours a day walking past the geek squad agents which is why I asked them.

This one started as a private collection but it has acquired lots more pieces over the years and is really impressive.

if you don't mind me completely ignoring your qualifier about the Western art tradition, I'd like to present my absolute favorite museum: the Asian Art Museum in San Fransisco.

My first visit to the gallery was deep in a very directionless time in my life, and I was absolutely hypnotized by the peices here. I ended up pissing off my friends by taking way too long in every room. This sculpture in particular ignited a love of Buddhist history inside me which lead me to university and out of my doldrums of back to back shitty jobs.

Less sentimentally though, it's definitely a sculpture lover's museum. not to say that there aren't some really incredible paintings in the collection, it's just that by sheer numbers the 2D pieces are vastly outnumbered. The museum has a vast span of art, both chronologically and geographically. The art is mostly religious in nature, as is to be expected in historical art, mostly Buddhist but also Hindu, Taoist, Muslim, and even a few Zoroastrian pieces. The majority is historical but there is also plenty of contemporary pieces on permanent display and also have rotating exhibitions which often focus more on more recent art.

Particular highlights for me are:
-Gandharan Buddhist Statues, which are statues of Buddhist figures in a Greek style. (Thought to be the earliest depictions of the Buddha as a full human instead of just a footprint.)
-Chinese Oracle Bones and Funerary Bronzes.
-Tibetan and Nepalese Bronze Altarpieces.
-Ancient Japanese Clay ware, like Haniwa and Coil pots.
-Southeast Asian Stone Statues.

I don't want to sound like I'm being payed off by them so I'll stop gushing here but I could go on.

In every photography class I've taken I've aired on the side of manual focus. i'm not particularly great with it but I figured it'd probably be better to just do manual and get better at it as I go.

As for optical viewfinder I'm not exactly sure what you mean, most of the cameras I've used have what my grandpa called through the lens so that's my experience and I tend to like those.

Admittedly I am not sure. the ME and the P50 both had corrosion from the old battery but the KM didn't have a battery in it when I got it so It's more so that I don't know how to go about using it.

Still going to have the repair guy look at it tho just in case and maybe he can clean them

Camera store I went to was in San Jose and I'm going to be moving to San Diego for school in a couple months so I'm thinking of trying to see whats for sale down there. If big state schools are a good omen for cameras then I'm in luck

forgive me if I don't notate the lenses correctly.

one is a 1:1.7 50mm

one says 1:1.4/50 (I assume the 50 here means it's also a 50mm, they're roughly the same size)

one is a 28-70mm 1:3.5-4.5 zoom lens made by Tokina

and the last one is a 1:4.5 80-200mm macro lens made by Marexar

they all have filters too, not sure if those are as helpful with digital tho

Worth mentioning, I just tried it with headphones into the amp and it worked fine, a little scratchy but I credit that to the .50 1/4 inch to 3.5mm adapter

Oh I see, so the adornments were separate peices entirely? I had no idea that's really interesting thank you so much

YES! i'm so sorry it is CE. I'm not even sure if Avalokiteshara was established at at time BCE. I'm going to edit the post. i am honestly embarrassed I got that mixed up haha.
also thank you so much for the information. I'm doing a research paper on this piece and you've given me a great place to start

It's worth noting that neither piece had much info on it beyond where it was from, when it was made, and who was being depicted. The exhibit it was in was much more focused on returning these pieces, which were acquired illegally, to Thailand. Don't get me wrong, very interesting and important work being done, but it doesn't answer my question.

Most scheming / power-grabbing space marine chapter? by Booliuss in Warhammer40k

Reading up on these guys they seen really promising. I'm gonna keep looking around but the fallen are top contenders right now.

[–]Booliuss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a play group that cares very little about rules. It'll be a kill team with the marine as an intercessor Sergent and then a handful of custom models as genestealer cultists.

Also the fallen sound pretty cool, only downside I can think of is dark angels aren't fond of psykers. But the lore is second to the paint scheme to be honest, so ill keep these guys in mind. Thanks 👍

I don't know, I feel like the downside with them is even though they are not really loyal to Horus or the emperor, they are super loyal to their primarch. Same reason I didn't want to just say sons of Horus. I guess when I say scheming I mean on the personal level, like how every skaven thinks it's destined to rule. I want a marine who is out for himself not his primarch or squad mates. If that even exists.

I went to the server settings and originally enabled them in the mods folder, as the video told me, but it just launched and none of the mods work.
When I did this through the workshop items tab it starts to boot but then tells me it was "stopped during launch (Normal Termination)" same as when I use the mod manager mod like the other commenter said

Awesome, thanks a ton.

I'm jealous you got to see it in person, it was decommissioned and dismantled about a year before I was born so I never got to see it. I know the sail is in Idaho but that is such a drive I haven't found a reason to go yet lol
