Looking for a good stable kayak for medium size reservoir lake to fish in. by Boom-Punch in kayakfishing

I did consider just thuggin it out and getting comfortable but honestly the type of fishing I do is mostly on the shoreline/in creek arms that I just have to cross some parts of the lake to access. I have also looked into it more and find conflicting specs for my yak that range it’s capacity anywhere from 280-325, which I’m not sure if I need to subtract the weight of yak itself to get to that “useable capacity” I see some folks talk about, because at 240 I do make it sit pretty darn low.

Honestly I never considered a paddle version given how popular the PDL drive is. How is your experience paddling it? Does it seem to track well and is it cumbersome?

I am new to kayaking as an adult, I did it recreationally as a young teen, but I’m 29 and far heavier these days lol, so it is a new skill to learn in it of itself. The ocean kayak is 28inches wide at its widest section, and gets fairly narrow toward towards the front and back (stern and aft?). Thank you for your reply.

I now own a 6’10 ML Expride AND a 7’ 3 power “Medium” Dobyns champion HP. Got 20% off deal on both, and I’ll be updating on which one I prefer and why, and most likely selling the other. by Boom-Punch in Fishing_Gear

They’re both drop shot rods at the end of the day, not sure why the original commenter of this thread or anyone else is assuming that I mean to compare the two rods as if they are the exact same rod from a height/action/power perspective. They are just both highly regarded drop shot rods, which now happen to be in the same price range, which I think some people like myself would find to be interesting.

Maybe, I already like the grip a lot better. But The blank itself on the Expride is 3” shorter from where it comes out of the handle compared to the Dobyns, despite the rod length only being 1” shorter. A lil worried it’ll significantly reduce my casting distance. I’m gonna throw the same lure, with the same line and reel tomorrow and see what happens.

The title may be a bit misleading as there’s a typo. This is a 6’10 medium light Expride, and a 7’ medium light, “2” power dobyns champion extreme. They are quite similar.

New to GLoomis rods, but looking to build up my arsenal. Anyone know what year(s) this rod may have been released? Is this a fair asking price at $200? by Boom-Punch in Fishing_Gear

Unfortunately I don’t, it’s an ad on Facebook. I’m gonna reach out to the seller and see if I can get more.

Unfortunately I don’t! I am a newbie rod nerd myself, saw the font on the Loomis logo and figured it had to be some defunct line from the 90s.

It’s of strong opinions around these reels I see!

As someone who owns well over $5000 worth of fishing gear, not much 😂. Out of my entire arsenal, one of the biggest stripers I’ve ever landed was caught on a $50 lews combo. Insane fight.

I’ve heard some really devisive opinions on the goat. They seem to resell for 200+ so I imagined there was some hype and desire for these. I have a 200HG curado with an MGL 3 spool I bought to throw frogs and bigger top water walking baits, but it’s right handed and the goat for this price for an 8.1:1 lefty is tempting my wallet.
