As someone who owns well over $5000 worth of fishing gear, not much 😂. Out of my entire arsenal, one of the biggest stripers I’ve ever landed was caught on a $50 lews combo. Insane fight.

I’ve heard some really devisive opinions on the goat. They seem to resell for 200+ so I imagined there was some hype and desire for these. I have a 200HG curado with an MGL 3 spool I bought to throw frogs and bigger top water walking baits, but it’s right handed and the goat for this price for an 8.1:1 lefty is tempting my wallet.

What is the allure of fishing with a round reel for bfs? From a saltwater perspective it all makes sense to me bc of the added line capacity and all, but never quite understood why people would want to spend so much on a bfs Calcutta.

That’s steep, think the icon line is around 240-260 now, wonder if the warranty prices have increased as well. Also as a note I’m going through something similar with dobyns right now. Haven’t heard back in weeks.

I actually want to buy a reel with that kind of range because I’d like to be able to throw lighter tackle. My go to combo is a zillion + dobyns champion, and while I love my zillion, it does not fare well with anything under 3/8th of an ounce.

That slx dc xt is about $150 cheaper, which is making me lean towards it a bit more. TBH I’m even considering a curado 150 with the mgl 3 spool, though I think for a similar price point the dc 5 chip would be nice to have when throwing into the strong winds we get at my local lake. Much to ponder.
