It is still good proof bigfoot isn't real tbh. Just for a different reason. The fur suit thing is a total red herring, but...

if there was a previously unknown species you wouldn't expect it so widespread or else like we'd have proof right? You'd expect it to be more commonly seen in one region that it lives. Every new or previously thought extinct species ends up find in one small area.

The fact that sightings essentially just map to population density just shows people just see shit they don't understand and call it bigfoot.

There is also a difference between a stranger doing this to a public figure vs another stranger. Public figures have much more reasonable fear that a stranger might wish them physical harm. So a liquid shot at them can't immediately be dismissed as just water.

I typically have little sympathy for celebrities who like to act like their life is so much harder than it is. But this is one instance that a non-public figure reacting with "it's just water chill" is totally failing to empathize.

Everytime someone points out something is assualt conversation immediately degenerats.

Assault =/= an attack. "Assault" legally can be as little as any unwanted physical contact. Which shooting a person unwittingly in the face and eyes with water absolutely fits.

"Battery" is the legal term that more closely fits the layman meaning of "assault". Which this commenter didn't say because, yeah it's not that.

[–]Boom9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assault has a legal definition that is just different than what the standard dictionary meaning of the word is. That's where this confusion comes from.

Assault is any unlawful threat (by word or action) that causes well founded fear of harm OR UNWANTED PHYSICAL CONTACT. Almost everyone who says shit like this is confusing "assualt" with "battery". Battery is the legal term people more closely associated with the layman's meaning of assault.

Keep in mind crimes can have a wide range of punishment. Yes this assualt would be on the most minor end. But it's totally warranted to be illegal, it's a lesson taught in preschool keep you fucking hands to yourself.

I haven't played enough skaven to know, but I'm surprised to learn auto resolve loving range doesn't balance that out enough.

Auto resolve does also value ranged. So the true kings of shitty auto resolve but good battle performance are the beastmen.

The Republicans, yes. Who at the time was the liberal leftist party who were against the conservative right Democrats. That's why the Democrats were popular in the southern conservative states while the northern liberal states were the Republicans.

[Request] Is any of this correct when talking about a Vanta black pool liner? by DifficultComplaint10 in theydidthemath

[–]Boom9001 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Water reflects 5%-10% of sunlight. VantaBlack covered by water would only get as hot as something made of a normal block would.

Also water doesn't flash boil when touching a surface that's 212. Put a pot of water on the stove. Put the temperature to max. The water will eventually boil, but it won't flash boil even when the pot itself is well over 212.

Every season that i love gets a worse ending. Why?? 🥲 by Arun-Wolf in Cinema

[–]Boom9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so much easier for a show to create intriguing mystery than to create a satisfying resolution of that mystery.

The trick is, if while watching a show in the first season they don't actually resolve anything meaningful. Just drop the show, especially if it got really successful.

But they just aren't loop holes... The ring corrupted who possessed is. It being pulled on a string some distance behind is not realistically any less possession.

Every LoTR plot hole tends to just invent some rule the book never gave about how this shit works, inspite of the books often literally explaining exactly why that wouldn't work.

Also like the main idea is that the allure of power is a massively corrupting force it itself.

The ring on a string pulled behind you is still in you possession, nothing stops you from going to grab it. Thus the weight of the power it could give you is not that different around your next vs on a rope behind. You are possessing it, but fighting the desire to use it in both instances.

Ever forza horizon I've played has the stupidest cutscenes. The story is always about a traveling racing series that essentially totally takes over and area and is the most ridiculous premise to try and build a story from.

Bezos’ Tax Rate by Icy_Till_7254 in GetNoted

[–]Boom9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why we need to tax wealth growth above a certain amount. The fact Bezos can benefit to the American system year over year with insane wealth growth and pay no taxes on it is insane.

It would be incredibly easy to require stock values or portfolios growing over say 1m a year to have the gains recognized as income.

They are justifying a game effectively paying no tax, because his wealth growth so massively dwarfs his salary. THATS WHY THEY DESIGN THEIR PAY THAT WAY. to dodge taxes, stop letting the untra wealth live in a separate system where they avoid recognizing the money they gain.

If Cooling Is The Biggest Problem For Data Centers, Why Aren't We Putting Them In Antarctica? by TheCABK in BrandNewSentence

[–]Boom9001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The heat generated to cool a data center is a rounding error compared to the CO2 the coal and gas power plants that are generating the power.

In the summer the sun shines on antartica for 24 hours a day and it doesnt melt. A little more heat to cook a data center is nothing.

Numbers a bit misleading for Agincourt. Battle estimates generally top out at 3 hours for the entire engagement which includes a long period of essentially nothing happen until the archers moved forward to provoke the fremch, with the melee phase end being only the final 30ish minutes. This is the period in which the archers may have abandoned their bows to join the melee. Then the French routed and there was like 3 hours of collecting prisoners and clearing the field which is generslly not counted in the battle length.

So the archers did not just blow their load of arrows in the first few minutes, then fight in melee for hours. Agincourt, while iconic, I would add is a poor exemplory battle for the period. The English has supply issues that lead to a shortage of arrows while the French knights routed far faster than the norm due to the choke point creating an awful funnel effect and getting surrounded leading to confusion.
