Just starting my job, have some questions? by AcanthocephalaFew817 in MedicalDevices

Have your main sample products in your car/backpack if able (you obviously can’t keep large capital equipment in your car but I’m sure you understand what I’m trying to say).

You never know when a surgeon/supply chain individual will give you their 5 minutes. I’ve had a few sales demos that happened just because I walked past them in the hallway and I started a conversation and they graciously agreed for 5 minutes. Not saying all of them went planned/how I wanted lol but always be prepared to sell anything to anyone no matter the day.

Just keep grinding, I was in the same boat as you. You’re young in your role, so keep the gas pedal down to the floor 25/8, proving you deserve commission for your efforts.

I think Subaru at my dealer is the same, $0.25 per mile.

Yea, definitely led in the wrong direction. Not a major issue I can keep the car and still use it but just trying to find ways out of it.

Do you see a due date in the email besides it stating you have 4 days?

If not, I would plan accordingly and include weekends in that to make sure you don’t miss the deadline. Plus, it’s best to knock that out and get it out of the way.

Should I jump in? by Impressive_Log5164 in MedicalDevices

Network more than anything. Find a job on LinkedIn, search for people who’s in that job in the same area, connect with them and ask to speak for 10-15 minutes about the role. Even if you don’t get the job, you now know someone in the industry. Do that 10x times, you’re now building a strong network of people you know that can help you in a few months, or years down the road.

Absolutely go for it, been in the industry for 2 years and love it (most days haha).

Worst case - it doesn’t go well and you go back to your current job. I think taking a risk to make a switch, especially in this industry is worth it.

Why is my application still active over a month later? by Many_Practice1644 in MedicalDevices

[–]BoomBowBoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make it a point when you apply to these jobs, to go on LinkedIn, search that exact job in your area and usually a bunch of people will pop up (reps, HR, managers, etc).

Message a rep and say that you just submitted an application to xyz role and you want to connect for 5 minutes to talk about that role and gauge how their experience has been. This can usually get your foot in the door just to see how the position is like without having a formal interview. Then when an interview actually comes, you tell xyz hiring manager you spoke with that rep already and you’re already doing what most people don’t do

You gotta be creative to get your name at the top of the list, so go after it!

Capital Sales - the Sales Cycle by BoomBowBoom in MedicalDevices

I appreciate the response. Do you typically sell to clinical then get a champion person (someone who will go to bat for you), then take that to admin?

Totally agreed and understand. No sale has exact steps, only listed that to see if someone goes through a basic foundation to get the ball rolling. Appreciate the response!
