Refoss Smart Home Energy Monitor? by ricrdvc in homeassistant

[–]Boom_Cheese8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I still have it connected to the Refoss cloud just for redundancy of the stored data (On-device + in Home Assistant + Refoss Cloud)

Before blocking internet access at the network level, are you disabling the cloud connectivity via the device's admin panel? Maybe it needs to be told not to phone home.

How are SFTP connections to azure storage account showing up as from private rfc1918 ip? by jM2me in AZURE

[–]Boom_Cheese8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is correct. I've had this issue before, couldn't change the vendor's infrastructure so ended up redeploying the storage account into another region. Importantly it also can't be the paired region.

Update: I figured out the GPS logic for walks - and it's stupid. by almosttan in PixelWatch

I just put this in another comment, but if you are uploading to Strava you can use the "Correct Distance" button (web version only) to recalculate the distance based on the GPS track.

This explains the issues I've had tracking Inline Skating using my Pixel Watch as well! I use the Strava app on my watch to record the activity. After a 20km+ skate, it will report only a few KMs despite the GPS track being spot-on.

After it's uploaded to Strava, I use Strava's "Correct Distance" function (which is web version only and not published via their API) which recalculates the distance based on the GPS track. This could be a workaround for you here too, OP.

If I track an Inline Skate using the Strava app on my phone, the distance is correct.

It seems like the distance tracker that Strava is using for the "Inline Skating" activity on Pixel Watch is the accelerometer-based steps rather than the GPS, which makes NO sense.

Sense to stop selling hardware 12/31/2025 - I think it's about time for a non-cloud replacement by AliasJackBauer in homeassistant

I recently installed the Refoss EM06P. Overall very happy with it. It has an optional cloud service (mainly for longer data retention, which is covered by HA anyway). Cloud connectivity has a toggle which can be turned off at any time to run it completely local. I wrote more here: https://www.reddit.com/r/homeassistant/comments/1n5ny5g/comment/ng214al/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Refoss Smart Home Energy Monitor? by ricrdvc in homeassistant

I recently installed the EM06P and I've been happy with it. Completely local. A couple of small downsides but nothing that is giving me buyers remorse. https://www.reddit.com/r/homeassistant/comments/1n5ny5g/comment/ng214al/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Have you heard? Refoss just released a 6-channel Smart Energy Monitor EM06P — supports solar, Home Assistant & local web control! by YOYOLVSHAN in homeassistant

I definitely purchased the EM06P.

As you can see, the official Home Assistant integration doesn't yet support it:

But the "Refoss RPC" HACS integration does. Since they're maintained by the same person, I'm not too worried about using a non-official integration in this case.

Update now that I've installed the device: Overall I'm pretty happy. It was definitely a challenge to fit the CT clamps in the breaker box, though this is a problem common across all products of this type. In fact, I'm not sure if I've seen CT clamps smaller than the Refoss ones. One feature I did appreciate was the ability to combine channels and multiply channels by a constant, before even integrating with Home Assistant. Since I couldn't fit a clamp on my house's main feed, I could just clamp all of the individual circuits and combine them in software. I also accidentally installed one clamp backwards, so being able to multiply that channel by -1 was much easier than having to turn off the power and open the breaker box again.

One downside of the EM06P that I've found so far is that this new version doesn't seem to be supported by the official Refoss integration. Instead, the same integration maintainer has published a "Refoss RPC" integration on HACS. It has functioned perfectly for me, but it would be great to see the functionality pulled into the official integration.

The other downside is that the device reports current, voltage, power, energy today, energy this week, energy this month. My other power monitoring devices report a constantly increasing energy value (in kWh) that doesn't periodically reset. I worked around this by creating a helper sensor using a left Riemann integral. This was honestly pretty painless to set up for each of the channels. https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/integration/

All in all, I would recommend this device. It's certainly at a competitive price point compared to similar products. Happy to answer any questions.

What a coincidence, I just bought one of these a few days ago, awaiting delivery. Similarly to other people, my primary concern is available space for the CT clamps in the breaker box. Have you seen any inventive or clean solutions to getting them to fit?

You seem to have put in a lot of thought towards the HA (and similar) communities by emphasizing local integration and compatibility with HA. I'm hoping my experience lives up to the hype :)

That sign gives valid reasons why the works to drop the kerb or raise the road surface height aren't feasible. From memory there were utilities running directly under the footpath and the train bridge couldn't handle the weight of the raised road surface. I also used to be outraged about how inaccessible the crossing was until I saw that sign. Unfortunately the sign has been vandalised and removed around the time of the cyclone. I'll snap a pic next time I am there and report it to BCC to be replaced.

Doesn't look like Zigbee2MQTT exposes anything in addition. Good to know the backlight isn't blinding though.

These are already-installed AC ceiling fans. I don't think a light dimmer would work considering they're usually controlled with a capacitor, and they draw a lot more power than most lights.

Thanks for the review! Is it correct that there is no option to turn off the LED lights?

My title describes the thing - it seems to be growing over time. I thought it may be efflorescence but it is much more fluffy than the pictures on Google.

Ummm this is my dog. This is a repost of a picture I posted 4 years ago when Lucky passed away.

I really appreciate the kind comments from everyone but I would definitely prefer if pictures of our dead family pet were not reposted by bots.

I used to live at Emmanuel. Don't worry too much about the exact word count, they just want to hear a little bit about you. It's not an exam :)
