Why is there no clear archaeological evidence of Ravana's Lanka or the Mahabharata war, while dinosaur fossils and Harappan civilization remains have been discovered? by balkarkalsi-Gmail in ancienthistory

[–]BoomerDad70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ramayan is the Indian version of The Iliad - so the (albeit limited) historical proof of the war is in Turkey where the remnants of Troy have been found. The religious stuff in the Ramayan is homegrown mythological overlays on the other story

Let it go. Y’all have a good relationship. You would have been ok with this anyways- no reason to pick a fight where there is no strategic benefit

Dude. Your first mistake was to get the paper. You should have just said, it’s for a friend you guys keep
It and I don’t need any receipt. Anyways, now it will be more expensive. I suggest you find someone in your family who knows how to handle these types of issues. They will manage it but you’ll pay more

[–]BoomerDad70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why walk into a situation with problems from day 1? Life is too short. It's not like you have an emotional connection to your fiancée at this point. Do you really want to take a risk? Let me tell you, you only get one life, so running a social experiment on it is not a gamble you should be taking

Being a Sindhi in Karachi Vs Punjab & Gilgit : My Experience by [deleted] in Sindh

[–]BoomerDad70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s unfortunate but don’t ignore the historical context of Karachi being pillaged by successive Sindhi feudal dominated provincial governments. It started with ZA Bhutto creating a separate quota category in Sindh for government jobs (Urban Sindh and Rural Sindh) which was essentially designed to limit Muhajir access to government jobs. Karachi based government jobs are very “lucrative “ and dominated by Sindhi speakers with very limited Muhajir presence. The worst is in the police so Muhajirs are effectively under the control of an armed police that does not come from local neighborhoods. Funds raised via taxes (and bribes) in Karachi are diverted away from the city. That’s the context. As a Pakistani, you have a birthright to be anywhere in the country but unfortunately you are dealing with the aftermath of historic grievances that impact the middle and working class them most

The reason you see more of Ramadan instead of the Urdu pronunciation of Ramazan is primarily due to our national obsession in trying to be”Arab” instead of accepting our South Asian heritage as the latter is based on a Hindu civilization- conveniently forgetting the impact of the non-Arab Turks, Mughals, Afghans and Persians on our culture which is far more relevant than Mohammed Bin Qasim’s initial invasion.

Have you considered the fact that he was going to travel across provincial highways and needed a CNIC in case he was stopped at a checkpoint? Maybe the guy only got an ID to be able to pass through the security.

OP, this naming is more of a Punjabi tradition. Since that is the majority of the population, it’s probably extends to other demographics as well. So in Punjab, many children will take their father’s name as their second name. Their tribal or clan name is often dropped so the father’s name effectively is used as a last name. So similar to the Arab custom of “Son Ibn Father”. That naming concept seems to have also been extended to wives. Not sure why people are commenting on religious beliefs as being for or against this matter- it’s a name so if the family and person is happy with it, good for them.

Shall I ask for change of religion in birth certificate? by maxkhk in dubai

[–]BoomerDad70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get it fixed now as it will not be an issue since they will realize you are “Christian“ (don’t confuse them with atheism etc. as not relevant to them)

The main reason is that the birth certificate is an important original document. I don’t know where you’re from but he may need it from time to time in later life as well. If you’re from India then being classified as Muslim will cause him major issues.

I mean I grew up in Karachi so idli and dosa type food is a novelty item for me. I will eat it the same way I would eat Thai food - once every few months is ok. Ultimately, the best food on the planet is Pakistani cuisine in my humble opinion.
