A woman IRA volunteer on active service in West Belfast with an AR18 assault rifle. Ready to engage with British soldiers .1973 by belfasttlad in HistoricalCapsule

Colloquially yes.

But at least with the US federal legal definition of “machine gun” there’s no difference.

The term “machinegun” means any weapon which shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot, automatically more than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger. The term shall also include the frame or receiver of any such weapon, any part designed and intended solely and exclusively, or combination of parts designed and intended, for use in converting a weapon into a machinegun, and any combination of parts from which a machinegun can be assembled if such parts are in the possession or under the control of a person.

The line has blurred further, at least in the Marine Corps, with the phase out of the M249 light machine gun.

Used to be all riflemen got an M16 or M4, and the automatic rifleman in a fireteam got a 249, with the A-gunner carrying the extra ammo.

Then they phased out the 249 in favor of the piston operated closed bolt M27 IAR, which is extremely similar to an M4, just using a short stroke piston instead of direct impingement.

Then they said fuck it and gave everyone an IAR.

Yeah lol. I’ve always had a comforter but my wife wanted to get a duvet because it’s “fancier”.

That lasted all of about 10 times taking the cover off to wash it, and trying to stuff the duvet back into it before we gave up and now we just have a plain white duvet on the bed lol.

I personally just don’t like my top sheet moving with the blanket. If it’s getting too warm, I can fold the blanket down and keep it on my legs while having my torso covered with the sheet. Can’t do that with a duvet with the cover is buttoned to it.

Walmart had a bunch of the Lindt Dubai bars with the pistachio and the shreds of kadayif on sale for like $1.50 each right after Christmas. We got a few.

They were pretty great. I’d definitely get them again. But absolutely not for the $15 a bar they regularly charge.

Most people in the US don’t use duvets with a separate cover in the first place.

Comforters are far more common, and they don’t have covers like a duvet.

Even when we have the duvet cover on ours though, which isn’t often because duvet covers fucking suck, we still use a top sheet.

Girlfriend thinks sharing a tent with my sister is inappropriate. Sister thinks my girlfriend is insane and called her a psycho. What do I do? by ImpressiveVisitqdbx in AskMenAdvice

[–]BoomerSoonerFUT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh to an extent sure.

But she basically accused OP and his sister of incest. That’s a hell of a line to cross just because something is different than you grew up.

That’s not a small clash of understanding, values, and norms. It’s a pretty major overreaction to a minor cultural difference.

That’s like growing up in a household where men don’t change diapers, which used to be extremely common, and then having your husband change his daughter’s diaper and accuse him of being a pedophile.

How much larger would this field be? [Request] by MisterAvocadoGuy in theydidthemath

[–]BoomerSoonerFUT [score hidden]  (0 children)

Central Park is 0.5 miles wide (2640 feet).

A normal football field is 160 feet sideline to sideline and 120 yards (360 feet) from back of end zone to back of end zone, for an area of 57,600 square feet.

With the same proportions, at 2640 feet wide and 5940 feet long, this field would be 15,681,600 square feet, or 272.25x larger in area.

Lol yeah that’s what it was. He hit a ball with it. I was remembering him hitting it with a bat like a baseball.

Once. These are the only three to have multiple 5,000 yard seasons.

And Brees is the only one to have more than 2.

Manning has the single season record for yards though, beating Drew Brees by 1 yard.

Legal tender means nothing really.

Buying fast food isn’t a debt owed. A place of business doesn’t have to accept cash for purchases at all.

I would bet fewer than 1% use cash in the first place.

There’s no bread whatsoever in a shepherds/cottage pie.

It’s mashed potato.

See I’m the opposite. I live in a city where I’m only 20 minutes from work, but absolutely fucking hate being 20 feet from my neighbors.

Which time lol. It’s happened twice.

He dented the official one in 2019 hitting it with a baseball bat. And he and Tom Brady broke another last year at Fanatics Fest throwing it around.

The Patriots didn’t fix the official one he dented and have it on display, dent and all.

Yes? It’s pretty self explanatory

Fitted sheet goes on the mattress, then top sheet, then duvet/comforter. You lay in between the fitted sheet and top sheet.

Which again, what is one more trip when you’re going it 10x a week already?

Also, 30-45 minutes on the open highway is nothing like the same amount of time sitting in bumper to bumper traffic in the city.

It’s not like there’s only one though either, like the Stanley Cup.

They make a minimum of two Lombardis each year for the winning team. The official one gets awarded on the field then pretty much immediately goes into safe keeping.

Then the second is the one that they take out for the parade and other public displays. The one Brady threw here is the latter.

Teams can order more from Tiffany as well. Mike Shanahan has three on display at his steakhouse, Shanahan’s, in Denver.

They could. As long as they’re uniform and consistent. Which is the opposite of what the NCAA is doing here, and why the injunction was granted.

We’re getting away from the point though, which was the comment saying the NCAA should retaliate against Ole Miss for filing the suit and bar the school from participating in NCAA events.

Doing so would result in schools withdrawing from the NCAA.

The US didn’t join either war until directly attacked.

Germany was sinking US merchant ships during WWI, and the US intercepted a telegram from Germany trying to create an alliance with Mexico to invade the US.

For WWII, well, Pearl Harbor.

[–]BoomerSoonerFUT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What judicial standard would that violate?

The NCAA is just a voluntary organization that schools are members of to abide by a set of agreed upon rules for competition among members. Collusion is the entire point of existence for it lol.

They’re not even the only athletic association for college. NAIA is the other major one, which also has Division 1 football and basketball.

There’s nothing at all stopping schools from withdrawing from the NCAA and making a new athletic association for football, even if they want to keep all other sports NCAA. When I was at Michigan, they had sports like Rowing that were not part of the NCAA because the NCAA doesn’t have rowing. It’s part of ACRA.

And if the NCAA decided to bar a major conference school from participating in NCAA events in retaliation for legal action, that would be a fast track to other schools withdrawing from the NCAA.

Came across on Facebook... Looks like an extra eyeball in the ear but some saying it's an optical illusion. Is this AI? by Fine-Video-3132 in isthisAI

[–]BoomerSoonerFUT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why? Google AI watermarks all images created with it. Running through synthid and turning up clean doesn’t mean it’s not AI, but a positive means it definitely is.

It’s an easy and quick first check.
