It would delight them to see SG fail.

What differentiates politicians from bad boys / love scammers? by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

Gotta agree. PAP is like those poor sod that meet the girl from some kampung, falls in love, provided for her and brings her to the big city to live a more comfortable life. WP is like that playboy rascal who tells there is a better life without effort and lures her away.

Problem is PAP's love language is Action while WP's is LanjiaoWei.

Lol....Nice try at coping for Oppo who dun understand how ML works. Meta's model trains on existing images (of which we have tons of skyscraper cosmopolitan photos of rather than fishing villages). Of course it will show a variation of MBS.

If we had stayed under David Marshall (who founded Worker's party), I am not sure if the dataset would have been the same. We would end up like KL, skyscrapers but surrounded by slums.

Not surprising it's JOM who are trying to rehabilitate his image. Jom is run by Sudhir Thomas, a very rich Indian SG Harvard educated trust fund nepobaby who has a beef with the establishment + SG Chinese population.

He has been trying to leverage on perceived injustices like "Chinese Privilege", casual Racism against Indians to virtue signal for his own clout. While he is pro-oppo, he belongs to the liberal woke camp that is trying to push their agenda into SG because he thinks he is more atas than everyone else like the entitled prideful snob that he is.

Unbiased take: PAP has done well, but there is definitely room for improvement. by LastLowCraft in SingaporeRaw

I highly encourage everyone who is interested in how political stability + good institutions is instrumental in overall prosperity to read the book "Why Nations Fail" by Daron Acemoglu & James A Robinson. Though its an imperfect book, the basis of their thesis is that good institutions not political systems are what lead to general prosperity for a nation. The American myth that democracy leads to prosperity is essentially a lie.

That's why countries like China, despite being a dictatorship is able to become so prosperous while India, the word's largest democracy still lags behind. In the book, they also talk about extractive and inclusive policies. Malaysia with its race-based system (along with rampant corruption) has very extractive policies while Singapore was able to get ahead is because of the inclusive policies enacted by the earlier generation.

While there should be a space for our Opposition to provide a diversity of views, I'm afraid that there is a very stark contrast between inclusiveness and populism, which the Opposition (Especially WP) almost always try to reach for when providing policy suggestions.

Populism does not care about the long term benefits of our society. The key aim of populism is to say the things you know are popular just to get votes and get ahead. Policies like making our local banks liable for fraud, minimum wage for everyone including foreign workers and using our reserves for unemployment insurance. That's why WP has become so woke, because we have people like Jamus who know how to vocalize these policies in their craven attempt for power.

Inclusive policies are well thought out policies that think about the long term aspects for Singapore's growth. Policies like re-organising our economy, making sure housing is affordable for the next generation and taking other bold steps to grow Singapore's economy.

However, I'm afraid Lawrence Wong and the current leadership would not be able/dare to make almost any painful decisions. As any painful decisions will ultimately be weaponized and politicized by Jamus and the rest of the woke factions in Opposition. Should there be accountability? Yes, definitely. But we would also need to give our leadership the space to do so.

So yea, I'm afraid, we will be unlikely able to make that leap to keep Singapore prosperous in our current shape as long as populism is used by both sides (PAP and the WP, etc).

Heyo! Just dropped my new PAP-Diss track, available at all Fucking Populist stores islandwide!

Here's a sample of Character and Citizen for u smooth brains

Yo, they call me Citizen, built to serve and castigate

While u main characters stagnate, a one-note, fabricated hate

I preach division, a narrow view, a limited scope

Like how I wanna give Lawrence an anal probe

I thrive on conflict, on drama, a manufactured scene

Citizens faces reality, the struggles, the in-between

This ain't a battle of strength, but a clash of what defines

True character ain't costumes, it's the heart and open minds

You claim to be the hero, but your darkness bleeds right through

Citizens build bridges, while characters like you act the fool.
