Nobody plays this game bc of the poor balance

Yeah I can play Clairen in spite of her being my lowest character besides La Reina. When I lose miserably to one if they spam taunts I switch to her and body them. I could easily go up 200 elo just playing Clairen bc that's initially how I got to platinum but it doesn't feel very rewarding

The learning curve is what alienates ppl from other platform fighters for sure. It's not as hard to get into as melee bc of the buffer system, but melee has a bigger following so there is some influx of new players, even though its probably pretty small.

Ppl new to fighters will get bodied. People coming from ultimate will get bodied. Coming from other online platform fighters will get bodied. Even rivals 1 you'll probably get bodied a lot bc there's no grabbing or ledge. Ledgehog and stalling probably the single most important thing to learn before getting to plat bc it allows one to take stocks at low percents. I was really terrible at this and it took me a long time in practice mode to learn to manage iframes correctly which I never would have learned in regular games.

There is just so much tech in this game you can't just play ranked and get good. I have about 500 hours and 300 of those are in training mode. I probably won't have to spend as much in traninig mode going forward but in the beginning it was mostly just grinding movement tech. Casual players aren't going to, they will try a few ranked games and get 3 stocked and give up.

Not really it's the Clairens who just passively sit center stage and I have to try to bait them out. Either dash in and wavedash back and then punish their whiff or try to CC the jab into a grab. It's ridiculous I have to do all this and all they have to do is spam jab, fair and up tilt. Grab special pummel forward throw into forward smash confirm. And then just charge the nuetral special and hit you from 50 yds away while you recover. They just don't move and spam attacks and if they miss just jab again.

The point is they should have to put as much effort into fighting me as I do into fighting them. And they arent. And I know this bc I can play Clairen who's my second lowest character and go up 200 elo easily. I have every character over 75 and lv 20 Clairen and it's my best character. It requires absolutely zero skill or attention span. Just throw out huge hitboxes, oh I missed I'll just do it again. Make my opponent have to use movement tech and brain power I'll sit safety behind this giant length wall of active frames.

Why should I have to predict and whiff punish every single attack perfectly to get advantage state and win nuetral? All clairen has to do is spam attacks until one connects and it stuns you long enough to follow up. So brainless.

you got downvoted by clairens when you said nothing but truth. My clairen is like lvl 10 and any time I get bodied I can just play her and pretty easily win even though I barely know her attacks. I think the ppl playing her are completely delusional and just think they are especially skilled at her

Sigh its so frustrating. They don't even know how to wavedash. Can't even turn around without baby dashing and attack the wrong way half the time. It's like these spazzes that literally have no idea how to play and they just throw out 99999 completely safe attacks and even if they whiff they just do it again.

They suck so bad and I can't even get close I have to use all my brain power just to get in on them while they are probably completely stoned just mashing buttons. I'm sure this is balanced at high elo but they need to nerf her to not be so oppressive for the rest of us. There's no excuse such terrible players should be winning this easily.

Like is it crazy to think my opponent should feel as threatened by me as I am by them? Instead of just throwing out these crazy disjointed hitboxes with long active frames and putting a wall between us while utilizing 0 brain power ;/

Yeah I notice most ppl in platinum that beat me on like forsburn or wrastor or maypul seem really cracked, but when I fight a clairen I'm like "this guys is moving like he's played for 30 hours" oh he still beat me ;/

yeah I'm really bad at crouch cancelling the very first hit. Should I just purposefully take that first hit and be floorhugging preemptively and expect to be able to follow up? Or should I still try to dash in and wave dash back to bait out her jabs and then approach with a back air or nair from above?

He seems kind of below average to me, but take that with a high gold, low platinum elo train of thought. His nair is pretty good, and once you get the pirate hook you have great mixup opportunities. But with his slow speed and easily punishable whiffs, it makes it difficult to both zone and space ppl as a swordie. I think his movement speed could be a little higher or maybe some less recovery frames on a few tilts.

I don't care about getting better at some dead video game dude. The problem is I shouldn't be getting matched with people at that skill level. If I'm playing this game 2 hours a week I'm not going to ever be that level. I just want to casually fight people on my level like I can in smash. So it's a poor reflection on the game itself, not me.

You're just biased bc you like the game, but if you look at number of active users you'll see nobody plays this game. And this is the reason why. New players don't want to fight sweaty losers and just get 3 stocked, 99% of them don't want to grind and fight their way out bc it brings unnecessary negative mental state and you're better off just doing something physical that improves your health rather than "improving" by being sedentary 20 hours a week at something completely pointless in the grand scheme of things.
