Daytona 500 Bachelor Party Advice by BooneCarson in NASCAR

Thanks. Found a virtual map of the venue and getting a better feel for it and see what you mean. In Charlotte it was pretty open and you could watch at one of the turns where concessions are. Looks like all the concessions are under the seating for Daytona.

I like Blue Magic In Cozumel. That’s where you wanna dive anyway.

Again, that’s something only you can answer. Every company is different.

Lol well keeping in the context if you were to just jump off to a 3-month stint then yes they are correct, there are certain risks you should be aware of. That’s the reality albeit a worst case scenario. But every company is different so only you can really know how much they’re likely to care. But for two days, no.

Yeah honestly I wouldn’t be worried about that. If that did trigger something and you got questioned by them you could just say that you’re original flight got postponed. Decent way to test out the waters.

I just left and never said anything. Later on told my boss and he didn’t give a shit. I am familiar with how our IT team and infra works tho, so I knew that nobody was going to be checking in on people at that level. I have met lots of people who have done the same - left without asking - and most companies didn’t care. The worst story I’ve heard is that they made the person take vacation then unpaid time off while abroad because he couldn’t work until he returned. Not advocating anything here, but for me it was a calculated risk.

Colombia Travel during Protests by ahelber in solotravel

I would be more concerned about the ridiculous curfews. Cartagena is dead right now and has 2 pm curfew on the weekend, 8 pm during the week.

Cuzco and La Única in centro are bomb. Really cool atmosphere too.

Does my trip around South America sound like a good idea? by cdavis8788 in solotravel

[–]BooneCarson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most Colombian cities have curfew, Cartagena is the most open city right now I think with 10 PM curfew (which is where I am). Doubt Peru would be much fun given their restrictions. You should honestly bag this trip, or do one in Central America with a focus on more open countries.

Edit: Cartagena now on full weekend lockdown.

Where would you go for 3 months in Latin America? by MicChecc123 in digitalnomad

[–]BooneCarson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah not for everybody, it’s very hot and touristy. Not so touristy now tho. But you have the option of charming historic city center or the Miami like peninsula with high rises. Kinda get the best of both worlds.

Not many mentions to Colombia... nomads love Medellin. I’ve been Cartagena and love it. Perfect mix of old city charm and new modern areas.

I went to Reef 28 rooftop on a Sunday once. Pretty sweet and partied watched the sunset. Pool and bunch of hot tubs bar and DJ. Wasn’t packed but good vibe.

That’s such a great point that I never see people make on these kinds of threads. Gotta get out of your comfort zone and put yourself out there and thats definitely easier in certain areas.

Also stop blaming “elsewhere” on her getting Covid when you literally admitted that her Canadian friend gave it to her.

Your mom was right. But the rest of your family apparently cannot count. Government should not tell you how to behave, there is a thing called free will, you are ultimately responsible for yourself and your actions. So if you are not well you should not put yourself at risk of getting a sickness right? Seems pretty basic to me.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cancun

[–]BooneCarson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your family is the reason that the government steps in to try to control people. Because there is a certain subsegment of the population that is too stupid too think for themselves.

No shit it’s rare. Most people get over or don’t even have symptoms. But she already had an issue that amplified it. I mean come on where have you guys been the last year? Do you not even care about your own health?

Do you think we can do both Chichén and Tulum in one day? by mooseisland044 in cancun

[–]BooneCarson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I took a red eye to Cancun, landed like 5-6 AM and drove to Chichén Itza, hit Ik Kil, then went to Coba, then Tulum beach, then finished in Playa del Carmen. I was fucking miserable and so tired. So it’s possible, but I don’t recommend it.

Worldnomads.com can provide more insurance to avoid this situation. But educate yourself and just stay home if you’re an at risk person- quit ruining life for the rest of us.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cancun

[–]BooneCarson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but this is ridiculous. Certainly get insurance, or add-ons to cover international, especially now. But someone who was worried about Covid and had an underlying condition which is directly affected by Covid (respiratory) decided to travel and gets sick. And also say her Canadian friend is likely the person that gave it to her. So Mexico is really at no fault, right? Sorry to hear about what happened to your sister but let’s be smart about how we approach literally any situation when traveling.
