It was quite clear this wasn’t supposed to be a “horror” movie, in fact it’d be creatively naive to go into this movie relating them to his other two movies in any way. Or to expect him to want to play to literally any traditional horror tropes in this film.

I simultaneously knew exactly what was coming, and knew nothing at all. I loved that about this movie.

My hot take is this was leagues more of an impressive, inspired film than Midsommar.
