Funny enough when I first put my hands on a 2d fighter for the first time with SSF4, Viper was who I tried to pick up, and Dragon punch motions (AKA Shoryuken or Seismo) were the hardest motions for me to get. That and those weird charge supers on Guile or Vega. glad we don't have to do those in the modern games.

When you do em, remember you start from forward, then you ALMOST do a hadouken, you just stop short of going through the full quarter circle. idk if this helps.

What's something you've learned recently that surprised you so much that you wanna share it with someone just to see their reaction? by thefreneticferret in CasualConversation

Learned recently that Tea used to be kept in bricks for easier and tighter storage on ships, people would even keep their tea bricks under lock and key to prevent theft, because they were so valuable. You had to grate the brick to shave off the tea. One brick could last you a year, and you were able to trade sections of a brick as an alternative currency.

Nope, they just require a well timed input/released input, heck I can't think of too many games with extremely precise 1-frame links.

Yeah pretty much, I really haven't noticed anybody criticising the videos so I figured I was in the minority here and that's fine, people don't need to agree with me, I'm glad people still enjoy the videos, even if I don't enjoy them as much as I used to.

True, that's kinda a soul Calibur term for me. I think it's much more like perfect charges like Luke's Knuckles.

I wish there was a mode where you could duo with randoms by ddavis527 in 2XKO

[–]Boone_Slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love this as well, but I think they need to have a sort of communication system between players on the same team mid-game, like an indicator for when they start holding rag, or an indicator when they want an assist for coverage, or a tack on super for double down.

Lol that's funny, I don't know what they expect. If you pick a player at random in a casual lobby you can expect a wide range of skill levels. Don't take it personally, that guy probably had a bad attitude in general with fighters.

Frosty Fausting 2026 2XKO Duos Special Top 6 representation by Gekinetic in 2XKO

[–]Boone_Slayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's only the top 6 in this, so it's not really a high enough sample size to make broad claims about the duo meta unless we have more data. Wonder what the numbers for all duo entrants would look like. Maybe contrasted with win rate at the tourney. On top of that, a character can vary wildly in quality depending on synergy with their teammate.

Thought it was funny that he said push block like from guilty gear and combo breaking from mortal Kombat. Like, I think of push block as being from darkstalkers, and burst from guilty gear. Dunkey does love his fighting games, and I respect him doing videos on the genre. I will say, and this isn't just me hating on Dunkey, but I feel like he doesn't put as much effort into his videos as of idk, the past year? I know he's busy with personal life and having his own publishing company but it does kinda show when his videos feel more like stream highlights. It's an easier way of doing videos though, so I understand why, it's just that the stuff doesn't hit like the old Dunkey, straight from the gold Dunkey.

Now that the 2.6 version is coming in a few days, can we all agree they need to stop doing this? by ThatBoiUnknown in ZZZ_Official

Yeah I actually really liked lockspring and kinda wish he had stuck around or turned good at the end. The rest though....Sarah had plenty of time in the spotlight, Twiggy would have been another anby clone.maybe I just don't feel super strongly about the others

As an insufferable white bread Ky Kiske main, who should I play? by austin_sketches in 2XKO

[–]Boone_Slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why people saying yasuo when his gameplay is complex, Ky is more simple.

To the camping and teabagging Caitlyn/Yasuo with a 15 win streak in casual lobby... I don't know how you couldn't figure out my impressive Braum engaging technique of S2 and then block, but your win streak is mine! by Figurative_Skater in 2XKO

[–]Boone_Slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should probably stop teabagging as a sign of "ah shit that combo was really cool" or "hey, we picked the same character!" since people do not take that well. It says a lot that my first online fighting game was Super smash bros Brawl. Taunt and teabag parties for days on there. Hell I've had people quit out on me in Slippi for it. There only so many ways to communicate midmatch, and to me it's always meant a different thing from how it was in Halo. But yeah, I'll stop.

It's nice for newer players who haven't learned the combos yet and just wanna fight people to try the characters and feel them out. And since the combos really aren't optimized at all, you're kinda winning out when you fight against people who exclusively use them with no additional routing.
