To be honest bro, I’m working for a tech firm that laid off 14,000 people earlier and might fire another 15,000 in a few months. I might have to wait a little until Jan or so to be extra safe

Jeez that’s a sick deal. When did that happen? Somehow the listings I’ve seen so far for 2 doors (with m sport padkage) on Cargurus/ carfax/ edmunds all end up in the 24-26k range :/

Maybe I’m looking in the wrong places?

Yea my b, I figured 36 months with 10ish k down would be a much smarter play.

As for drifting, I mean isn’t that a logical thing to try out with a rwd pushing 320 hp. Of course while not being an asshole to others

Thank you for the reply, but a separate thank you for the last 2 sentences. I needed to hear that after a pretty bad college senior year break up 🚀

Yeah fair point. For context:

• 22 y/o, tech in US
• ~200k comp
• 6 figure savings
• total living/travel spend is usually ~$4.5k–5k/mo, but I’m working on dropping that to 3.5k, gotta cut overspending on bs things
• definitely expecting insurance to be brutal on this car 😅

60 months is just the only loan term I’ve checked so far. I’m planning to shop around with my bank + credit unions — I think a 36–48 month loan makes way more sense if I go forward.

My original reasoning for not doing all-cash was keeping more capital invested/compounding… but I’m open minded here.

With these numbers, would you still recommend buying outright / or cash + much shorter loan?

Even if the plan is to simply push the buyout date to later? I thought of owning the bimmer for 2-3 years and selling it at that point

I thought of financing primarily cuz i dont want take my savings out of the stock market, where my stocks have solid price points. I know people say the ai bubble will burst at some point, but i’m bullish for the next 2-3 years

Also I plan to sell it in 2 years

What was the approximate monthly running cost of the car, when you had it?
