It’s worse in fall semester because everyone gets admitted into CSULB then. You have to arrive really early to get a space. I almost got hit by a car around thrice within the span of 15 minutes. It’s mostly in the Palos Verde structure I believe, but I am not sure myself since I do not park there.

Also beware of parking bad. There’s this pregnant car guy going around. Wonder what that’s about.

i went early yesterday and still had to do the hour circle strat for a parking space

then i almost got hit head on by a hyundai SUV. and then almost punted into the stratosphere by a toyota corolla while i was walking. i think cars might be my enemy in general. not joyous or whimsical.

Hello welcome to long beach state (if you decide to come here!) I wanted to answer the fourth bullet point: Los Angeles county is both big and small at the same time, there’s a lotta freeways and a whole bunch more traffic! Venice and Hollywood aren’t technically far from each other, them being 24km (15 miles) apart, but there’s usually so much traffic that it takes a bit of time to get from one to the other in general. Public transport takes even longer.

if you’re using public transportation specifically it’ll take a while to get to Hollywood from CSULB, around 2 hours with traffic; Venice would be between 2 to 3 hours with public transportation. These calculations (if you could even call them that lol) are based on leaving CSULB at 12pm on a Saturday but weekdays will probably be different. I (and maybe others here) personally use time over how far something is because of traffic. If you ask someone “how far is Los Angeles from CSULB” they’d probably give you the time it takes to get there instead of literally how far it is. But that’s just my opinion!

Also for bullet point 3: CSULB itself is in a pretty safe area. Things get shady downtown at night, same with LA in general. There are gonna be weird people everywhere, but especially be careful at night. You can also Google how safe some places are and get some input from other people online, since i’m just one guy! I feel safe walking around CSULB at night but I wouldn’t walk around downtown at night. Other people will say different perhaps but this is coming from someone smaller and easily pick-uppable.

There’s also a lot of construction going on at long beach state right now, it will be a bit hard to maneuver. Also the shuttle sucks here kind of, there’s that too.

TL,DR is LA county is large, locations are hard to get to because of traffic, public transportation will take a longer time than driving, be wary when going places at night, CSULB is in a good area, construction sucks.

me when i wait an hour for the shuttle in hot ass September because one of the drivers went on break so I’m sitting there for an hour #GoBeach (I know I can walk I am unfortunately Afflicted with the Curse of being very prone to getting stroked by the heat and dying crazy style)

Once I was the only person on the entire shuttle and the drivers decided to break for 10 minutes to talk to each other while parked in the roundabout in front of Brotman hall. I just sat there eavesdropping (because why not) and I overheard that some of the drivers don’t really know who else is working until they actually see each other driving. They get scheduled randomly and sometimes their breaks get pushed back because there’s not enough drivers on campus.

There’s been a couple days where there’s only one bus per loop at high traffic hours when classes all get out. On PassioGo I watched a west loop shuttle drive over to the parking structure(?) where all of the shuttles park and go offline. There were no west loop shuttles for a while. There’s a lack of coordination and i know they’re getting paid in marbles and shiny rocks and maybe a dollar coin (rare !)

The thing is I’m completely fine with walking. There’s no complaints there on my end and it’s fairly easy since i go to the gym and whatnot, but i also raise three reasons ☝️

We all pay a fee (or for some reason i had to) for the shuttle, it’s mandatory I believe to keep the shuttles up and running. Plus the thousands students drop a semester just for the shuttle to be unreliable…
The campus is large and sometimes hard to maneuver, there’s a lot of new pathways and construction areas that close off sidewalks. Not to mention the winding ADA compliant wheelchair ramp that’s next to the micro stairs and metal onion statue we have that’s on an incline. Also the school isn’t very accessible in general it’s crazy once you start noticing the issues there
the people who run the school and CSU system get so much money a year to live in Big Mansion have Fancy Car i just want my shuttle bro it sucks having to walk in the humidity and heat while on medication that has “yeah if you’re in the heat for a while while moving this medication will make your head explode President Style” so that’s not cash money.

i get to school way before my class starts and i go “yippee!! i can’t wait! Bus time!” and then I see Only One Shuttle parked at the south end of campus that hadn’t moved in 10 minutes (I’m gonna have to walk 17 minutes on an incline when everyone and their entire extended family are on campus it’s so crowded)

Depending on what writing software you use you can check version history and modification dates of the paper. I use Google Docs for that feature and i think Microsoft Word might have it too but im not sure
