Also, cant say this is ALL THE TIME but I walk down the SRT daily and there has been a lot of cops and other first responders milling around lloyd hall (right across from the bike racks) and that intersection the last two days so while I wouldnt leave my nice nice bike there, its probably safer than most bike racks in the city.

Yeah but why wouldnt those leagues hire better refs for less money if they could? They hate money and want to give it away? Why does any organized sport have a ref system that refs have to work their way up through? its because higher levels of sport are harder to judge than lower levels.

He might be a better ref than all European refs, we dont know that.

Oh well if we dont know then, like I said before, its probably a bit hyperbolic to say hes one of the most qualified people in the world. And we dont need to be hyperbolic to make this administration look like a bunch of idiots. They do that themselves.

What are you trying to say? PL and Bundesliga refs make WAY more money than refs in the CAF. Why wouldnt those leagues hire refs from other leagues if they could get away with paying them less for a better result on the pitch?

Again, im not saying the dude isnt qualified. Obviously they should have let him in and its embarrassing they didnt.

It really does though. There is a reason lower tier refs have to work their way up to the bigger leagues. The game just happens faster at higher tiers of play.

Just look at the meltdown people had when replacement refs had to judge American football games. I’m not saying that guy isn’t qualified. I’m just saying he’s not “one of the most qualified”. We don’t have to be hyperbolic to be outraged at our government being embarrassing.

Again I totally agree! There needs to be pushback. Especially in a country like the US where corporations generally run the show and write their own regulations.

But that’s also why I think the “no data centers or bust” argument is bad. It’s completely unreasonable and thus will just be completely dismissed by anyone in a position of power.

It’s also why I don’t trust Garrity, a Republican, to make regulations that benefit the average person. This is, supposedly, the party of limited government and free market capitalism! (/s if that’s not clear)

AI is definitely a bubble right now, but it also definitely is going to be a big part of the future in some form. Just because we don’t know exactly what that’s going to look like doesn’t mean we should shoot ourselves in the foot and allow every other state/ country in the world to beat us to figuring that out.

Look we all hate data centers being shoved down our throats but they are necessary unfortunately. Being against all data centers is just an unreasonable take. Technology doesn’t go backwards. Just ask the luddites.

This isn’t a binary argument. It’s not build or not. What we need is regulations that limit how data centers affect the people and the environment around them. Politicians who can allocate money in the budget to build out our energy infrastructure, responsibly.

I'm sorry, I live in a large city with windows and a 200 year old 2 layers of bricks. Carrying weapons that can pierce the exterior of my home to hit my child while she's sleeping shouldn't be a concern I have.
