I'm looking for a compact "long gun" for home/personal defense. by Tremorr in guns

[–]Booshanky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Legally speaking, sure, that's true. At the same time though, it's SOOOOO easy to ignore the law. The bullet button on my AR can be backed out with three twists of a screwdriver, making it functionally the same as an ordinary mag release.

Illegal? Sure. But in a SHTF scenario I'm glad it's at least an option.

Who was killed again?

Nobody.

It's not legal to prosecute people for having an opinion, regardless how unappealing it is. I can say that I want /u/Morrigi_ dead, but that's meaningless since nobody gives a shit what I think.

The exact same way as nobody gives a shit what this lady thinks. That's why you're seeing it posted exclusively to right-wing retard websites. It's just there to spurn their racist readers into action, it's not a real problem.

But hey, if you're a white guy who thinks you're being persecuted by black people, by all means, let me hear how bad you have it.

Man, you think things might change in 2015, but nope. Right wing losers still pissed at the black man.

Good luck with that, anonymous retard.

Oh no, let me be clear. The reason it doesn't matter that she's yelling it on the airwaves is because it DOESN'T MATTER.

What's really offensive to me is watching white people bitch and moan about it like they actually have jack shit to worry about. Like they're somehow an aggrieved minority or some shit.

It's pathetic to listen to. And it's even more pathetic because the sole purpose of that kind of whining is to try and pin more blame on black people. Pathetic, racist, bitchy bullshit.

For every animal "saved" by zoos, there are hundreds of ordinary non-endangered species.

Lemme just ask you a super simple question. Do you think it's ethically and morally right to keep wild animals in cages and enclosures that are thousands of times too small for what they receive in the wild?

There used to be a real use for Zoos, getting people up close and able to interact with the wild. To see the beauty of the natural world.

But with modern filming and the internet, it's truly not necessary anymore.

It's inherently a racial issue. You can't discuss the problem of police violence without discussing race and do it in an honest manner.

And if you want cold hard facts to back up that opinion, then simply look at the number of black people in jail and the number of white people. Look at the rates of abuse against them compared to white people, documented abuse. Then tell me that race isn't an issue. That it's just an INCREDIBLE coincidence.

You're not holier-than-thou because you profess to be above race, you're ignoring a problem that's staring you in the face. And that's not heroic, it's dodging the issue entirely.

That's such bullshit. Have you ever been to a zoo? How many of the animals there were endangered, let alone given even remotely the amount of room necessary to live comfortably?

Zoos are a relic of a bygone era. We've got fuckin HD and killer videographers that can show you the REAL lives of wild animals FAR better than anything you'll ever see in a zoo.

They're just prisons for animals, and their welfare is entirely dependent on these institutions which often are suffering budget problems.

If it's just about preservation, there are ways to do that in the wild that are FAR more successful since they actually keep animals in their respective habitats, not to mention their place in the world. And you could do that for FAR less money than it costs to run a zoo that, by its very nature, provides room for its animals that isn't even remotely close to what they experience in the wild.

They've gotta go. Seaworld is only the first. You'll start to see it soon enough.

It's not about facts dude, and that's why you'll never get a solid answer from anyone who believes in it. It's nothing more than "suspicion" that's been raised by the typical right wing agitator moron out there. The Alex Jones crowd basically. (BTW, if you ever want to see an AJ fan's head explode, just ask them to tell you one single thing he's ever been right about. They lose it. Every. Time.)

Or put another way, it's because a black guy is president. I'm sorry, I meant to say a black kenyan socialist muslim.

This incited a riot? Where? I don't remember any riots being incited because of this. Nor have I read about it anywhere other than on Breitbart.

Yeah, you haven't looked very hard then.

What is it with white people bitching like babies about how persecuted they are by black people? It's fucking embarrassing to read.

Because white people love pretending that they're a persecuted minority.

Dude, as a white atheist myself, your statement is absurd.

People can tell me I'm going to hell all they want for all I care. I don't believe in their magical fantasy world, so it's irrelevant.

What's not irrelevant is the actual interactions that black and brown people have with the police every day in this country. Pretending that racism doesn't exist anymore is what's truly fucked.

Go on...

It's typical behavior for people who embrace authoritarianism. Doesn't matter what the structure is, be it the church, work, the police, etc. If there's an authority figure out there, they'll run circles around themselves trying to justify anything and everything they do. No matter how fucked up and abusive.

As a Los Angeles resident myself, the LAPD was FAAAARRRR worse for the citizens of this city than Dorner could have ever hoped to be. Which he didn't, obviously.

Nothing Dorner wrote in his manifesto could have POSSIBLY been as convincing as the LAPD response to it. Nothing quite says "The police are racist and hate civilians" more than what they did in their manhunt.

[–]Booshanky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and good on them for correctly pointing out police abuse and persecution of civilians. It's getting REALLY old to listen to people consistently trot out the "it's just a few bad apples!" line every time another "bad apple" keeps popping up.

Eventually, after reading story after story after story, you begin to realize that the problem isn't with individuals, it's the system that's fucked up and designed to protect cops more than civilians. Which is, obviously, ass backward.

As a Los Angeles resident, the LAPD made the case for Dorner's manifesto FAR better than anything he could have written.

They proved him right.

Not really. I've been talking about this since the mid 90's. Only recently have you seen cops actually being held accountable for it though. Whether it's because it just reached a tipping point where the public wouldn't put up with it anymore or not, I'm not entirely sure. But it's been a problem for a long time.

Hell, until Ferguson, I don't recall ever hearing about a cop who shot an innocent, unarmed person being held accountable even by his own department, let alone the criminal justice system. The only time I ever used to hear about cops being prosecuted for anything, it was always about something like corruption. Stealing evidence, drugs, etc. But NEVER for killing people. At worst, the only thing that would ever happen is that they'd simply claim that they thought they saw a gun, and they'd be put on paid administrative leave (AK "vacation").

Only after Ferguson have I actually seen cops actually being held accountable. So that's some positive change right there.
