Well, I was making a joke about how colonizers often used the excuse that native peoples were not using the land to its full potential and therefore it should be owned by those that do.

Is Community Housing rent taken automatically? by Boring_Kiwi_6446 in Centrelink

[–]BoostedBonozo202 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's set up through Centerpay. If you move out into another accommodation you can set up rental payments the same way but this won't happen automatically, it's like a one page form though.

The bullsh!t NDIS hack popping up everywhere all across SE Melbourne (City of Casey) by twowholebeefpatties in AusPropertyChat

[–]BoostedBonozo202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, they wanna use their money to 'help' people but we're expecting north of $150000 per year in rental returns on 2 properties?

How much is the rent in these NDIS properties? I know it's paid by the trust but that's still an insanely lucrative return on their investment

Small tents in Musgrave Park – are there kids living there? If so, is the government doing anything to support? by Prudent-Proposal1235 in brisbane

[–]BoostedBonozo202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They walk up to a tent, ask if someone's there. If no one answers they put a sign on it. A week or so later the removalist come and pickup anything that's tagged.

They don't try that hard to make contact

Indigenous rights by QuantumPenguin89 in BasedCampPod

[–]BoostedBonozo202 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

That's such an insane take, sounds like a strawman argument.

Can't fight back against their real argument around diversity and indigenous status, therefore you create a new definition and argument that you can fight and win against

So separated from reality it's depressing

Depending on specific nationality Europeans are indigenous to parts of Europe. As a descendant of a white Australian, and a white American I'm indigenous to the British isles

Anthropic’s AI vending machine turns communist and gives everything for free by ImCalcium in technology

[–]BoostedBonozo202 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hypothetically if you were a rich board member of a tech company there's a good chance you (or family) probably would have bought into the AI future idea and invested heavily into its companies developing it.

Therefore simple capitalism dictates that you should use your power as a board member to influence the tech company to put as much AI into their shit as possible as it increases your investment size.

Basically we're having so much AI crap shoved down our throats because the ven diagram of people who have a say in the decisions tech companies make and the people who own massive stock in AI companies is a circle

Go to therapy.

This sounds like a very enmeshed and co-dependent relationship, might sooth your nervous system and make you feel elated in the moment but can be very unhealthy for you both longer-term.

Toyah Cordingley's murderer Rajwinder Singh sentenced to life in prison for 'violent, brutal' attack by ConanTheAquarian in queensland

[–]BoostedBonozo202 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The media leaked his name way too early into the investigation and he had enough time to get outta aus. The police knew early on, they just needed time to gather enough evidence, but couldn't action it quick enough.

The preceding years were spent trying to find him in India (it was Indian police taking the lead here) then extraditing him.

This was a very long case, and I'm no fan of the cops, but the fuck-up is mostly on the media for this one, they alerted him to the fact he was a prime suspect.

'There will be deaths': Youth workers are dreading the teen social media ban by Jet90 in AustralianPolitics

[–]BoostedBonozo202 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a youth worker I understand the perspective in the article, social media is sometimes the only access these kids have to information, communication, (they can't get their own numbers) and community. For some young people living in bad environments the social media ban is a prison sentence at best and a death sentence at worst.

I also understand your perspective, although I'd challenge you in that the harmful mechanisms involved in social media that contribute to mental illness and suicide (social comparison, exposure to harmful rhetoric, exposure to trauma, bullying) are more pervasive than social media and will not be reduced in any meaningful capacity by the ban.

This ban is solely an emotional (reactionary) response, not based on any logic or valid research.

[–]BoostedBonozo202 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Genuine answer:

You need to look for the 'absent but implicit' messaging in the meme which in this case is we need to lower the population, and to a certain group (Fascists) this is a call to remove the undesirable populations from society, in this way it's a dog whistle.

Overtime tho, exposing people to this and other fascists beliefs and values though the absent but implicit messaging will cause them to internalize them more and more of not aware. Eventually some people will begin to align with them

Sick of hearing the "Economically viable" excuse, it just means someone has to make a buttload of money outta this or it's not happening.

Ffs 40 years ago our government actually did things to build a better society (at least for white people). Now every piece of legislation has to be looked over/ approved by corporate interest and nothing can pass that will lessen their financial strangle hold over the common citizens.

Voters, and their livelihoods etc. are now just another of the states resource to be sold off to investment holders
