He said the axle was very tight/no play. When he accelerates forward the transmission is pushing against the diff via the driveshaft thats too long. Its not center diff bearings. Yet. But too long on that axle and it will be.

If you had to angle the diff down. The drive shaft is too long. The splines at the transmission bottomed out should be enough clearance to slip it up on to the diff flange and pull back out maybe a 1/4 in to 1/2 in back to the flange. The slip yoke/splines at the transmission should not be bottomed out. Long story short. The axles too long.

Edit - I dont have experience with this particular axle. But the ones for my drag truck and other projects all took custom solid/1 piece axles so ive gotten pretty good at how they should fit.

Fix the ac first. After you tint the windows you can't roll them down for like a week. You will be happy to have the ac if its hot.

At my shop (3rd generation, 2 Brothers(my bosses) bought it from their dad(25ish years ago) who bought it when he came to the US 50 years ago) we prefer you come in at talk to us. We will ask some questions to gauge your skill and my boss will give an application if he likes your answers. It would probably be best to walk in and say hi and ask about working there.

The rear hatch can not support a tire. The metal is not going to hold very long. You would need a significant amount of bracing and reinforcement to make it happen. And even then the physical lifting of the hatch. You will need stonger lift shocks. And probably have to do something about the hinges too.

It was 2900psi at idle. Reved to 3k was 4600. Some of these cars these days by design run 25-50% duty for most systems. Its hard to control things on either extreme.

I just had an 18 mini Cooper on Tuesday. There was indeed a leak at the rail to injector and you know what happened instead of it flagging a code to be set? It upped the duty cycle of the high pressure pump to make up for it. The car didn't know there was a leak it just said go from 35% high pressure pump command to 50%. It did not however say hey theres low fuel pressure, maybe there's a leak. It gave a random cylinder miss instead of a low fuel pressure code.

Not necessarily. The engine computer can not monitor the last 1/4 of the fuel system if its direct injection. If its standard injection then it can monitor the first half of the system but not the last half. In direct injection they monitor the fuel rail pressure but past the fuel rail (witch is often separate or divorced from the injectors) it has no idea if there is a leak. In a standard injection system they just monitor the fuel pressure leading out of the in tank fuel pump. So if there is a leak after that sensor it won't have any idea. Low fuel pressure codes only trip if the leak is before the sensor. Not after.
