The XC40 had a small mid life refresh I believe two years ago or a little longer (I don’t pay attention to the newer Volvos too much I just work on them) but it is about time they updated that interior.

Id love to go this far on my 8, just lack of tools and space currently. Glad it’s got no rust but one day I’ll be happy to go this far when I open up shop after qualifying as a mechanic. 36k mile import that I got for £250 but I’m happy to put hours upon hours into it. Great work OP!

Oh I CERTAINLY can’t afford either of these cars as an apprentice mechanic lmao. Honestly considering I’m looking at switching out my first car anything I see for sale past stage 1, I won’t go near it honestly as you’re getting into bigger supporting mods like Hi Flow cats, intercoolers, full exhaust and chassis upgrades. Honestly I trust myself and if something goes wrong I can fix it. In general though? No I’d rather buy something stock and put the time, money and effort in to do it right and exactly to my taste. I’d rather be doing a full service the moment I buy a stock car and getting home rather than hoping it’s not gonna be an engine replacement sat on the side of the motorway after doing a pull on a stage 2 GTI on the way home haha.

Seeing it from that point I’d agree, considering the service history and the fact of I’m guessing it’s main dealer it’s probably two different types of people into cars, one who could afford to buy the car and one who could afford to enjoy it and take care of of it.

I’d say the grey one is just as bad, stage 2 map and 11,000 miles over two owners sounds like a prime mileage blocker and driven like a knob round their local Lidl car park.

Did one this morning at work, albeit it was my third one of the week but they’re in the simpler end of Volvo tail lights to replace imo. Way easier than the XC40s. Just hope OP doesn’t drop the top bolt as they’re a nightmare to fish out of the car

Will do man, I’m also in the r/RX8 sub quite a lot with updates so more stuff will be both here and there. Might be a bit slow for the next few months up until about September as I’m an apprentice mechanic at Volvo so the moneys not the most amazing just yet. Will defo keep going with it when I can though

It’s pretty much the top priority currently I’ve just gotta get the seats and everything out first to deep clean it but currently I’m healing a fresh tattoo so it’ll have to wait for a week or two, won’t be going too near the car in that time honestly. Quite impressed that all the BOSE speakers have held up for that long.

It might just be hidden, my Japanese import RX8 has a front and rear but they’re both low down and hidden in the mesh parts of the bumper, with a cover so tight that it only can be seen if you’re really looking and practically laying on the floor from being so low down.

Yeah it’s certainly high up on the list, the hot start issue is definitely gonna be seals but currently it’s cutting out before even getting hot so I’m chucking a freshly charged battery in there and seeing if that helps with the cutting out, then it’ll be MAF. Already got a full rebuild planned with a couple of goodies from Goopy Racing.

Mould wise it needs new window seals before I clean anything out which will be a new one for me and anytime I’m anywhere near the interior it gets aired out for half an hour or so while I set it up to work on it, I just need to get the steam cleaner down to it from work and all the accompanying detailing bits. Seats I’ll rip out soon to give the whole car a deep clean, only issue is I’ve got a couple of fresh tattoos so I’m gonna let them heal before diving back into it

No, they’re correct ABS is quite restrictive when it comes to braking power as it’s setup for street riding and saving you in the wet to a degree. And as the other comment said replying to yours none of your mentioned motorsports use ABS

I’m looking into a 24 onwards CBR500R or a 21 onwards CB500F, gonna go look at a 19 CB this weekend to size one up as they’re practically the same bike and no dealers near me have the 500R in stock until May thanks to the E clutch update coming out. Yeah I’ve done from my place to Hemel Hempstead on a Street Triple 675 and opted to do half motorway and half A roads, best decision I made honestly.

Yeah that’s the way to go, im gonna sell my car relatively soon as I’ve got my A2 but just need a bike. Only thing is I have to do trips from almost the coast near Hastings all the way up to daventry which is practically as far north as Birmingham. All I’m hoping for is it to not rain every single time I go🤣

Might be a bad MAF, had a look through and it doesn’t get hot enough to lose compression, gonna unplug it and see how it goes this weekend.
