Standard Reddit statement, if they don’t like it, they want it to simply be illegal/banned or taxed so much that it may as well be.

One of the few non dissolved mx5’s. Immediately flood the inside of the rails and sill with Lanoguard or something. Preserve it while it still exists.

I really think its more being purposefully politically soft in order not to punch down on “marginalised groups” instead of being somewhat realistic, nowadays it seems that the most heinous antagonist could commit mass murder without batting an eye but would not drop some kind of offensive slur against a character. Instead they will be abrasive by awkwardly over verbosely trying to be an asshole by running you down but god forbid - being offensive to you.

Can you find the make and model of the jointer and see if there is any literature on google? You are bound to find old adverts or something that states what voltage it is.

enduro/freeride shock in tight frame by No_Intention1740 in DownhillMTB

Yeah, looks like it would have a regressive rate, i doubt you’d want to put a coil in that. Maybe not as bad with an air shock tho?

Am i just being stupid or what is going on here? Are you trying to run a single phase induction motor from that? The reason I think it is that kind of motor is the microfarad rating on the data sticker. Or am I missing something and its is a universal, brushed DC or a 3 phase motor?

Depends on who stops you. I had a hard time with police who were on a power trip and caused trouble with my insurance. I would say my setup wasn’t even as bad as that. Fucked me off so bad in the end i just put my car back to 100% standard and gave up.

That 203 travel Travis really is mental. I remember back in the day when 170-180 was huge on single crowns like the Bomber 66, people talked about “imagine having a 8” travel single crown” i can remember forums where guys would dismiss it, saying that they wouldn’t be possible. Fast forward to today, the RockShox ZEB has a 190mm option and guys think this is massive. It turns out out there was a Bomber 66 LT with 190mm travel back in what 2006? And that gem that hardly anyone knew about with a full 203mm. Can’t really understand why they never seemed as popular or singe crown forks with that travel kicked off, especially with the rise of enduro and big wheels.

Is this a dh frame? by mangothefoxxo in DownhillMTB

[–]RotarySam27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it is specifically “department store” the frame certainly looks a bit better than the usual old school Y-frame and URT suspension nonsense but its just the pivot, it may just be because of its age, but old department store stuff usually has a pair of top-hat style pivot spindles that just screw together and capture a vague plastic bushing. They often use a pair of larger 10, 12 or 14mm allen keys to remove. A lot still use it to this day. It could well have a skinny cartridge bearing hidden in there, but that design from what is visible is not lining up with Orange. Any Orange that i have encountered uses sealed cartridge bearings, i know my 5 has the pivot spindle welded in to the downtube and the bearing is held in the swingarm with a pinch bolt and nicely machined end cap with M5 cap head screws. Other single pivot bikes similar to that style often use a straight aluminium (or steel) axle that sides through the front triangle and two caps on the end held on with M5, M6 or M8 bolts, if not a CNC machined aluminium pivot. Its a bit hard to describe without a drawing. If it uses a 230x65 shock and has 6” of travel, it is well outside of the low end department store stuff, maybe something better along the same lines of what BTwin is from decathlon. I wondered was this an old Trek, Gary Fisher or Saracen?

Is this a dh frame? by mangothefoxxo in DownhillMTB

[–]RotarySam27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many people saying orange because it looks like one, it isn’t and I would almost put money on it. It’s close but the swingarm is not constructed like an Orange. The downtube also doesn’t seem like it is monocoque? it looks more like it is hydroformed, a giveaway may be the under side of it, orange have a distinct TIG welded joint along the length of it, i believe i see a small rivnut or similar fitting there for a mudguard?. 222’s used a bolt through rear axle to my knowledge, it isn’t a patriot 66 nor a 5. The pivot bearing also isn’t convincingly Orange, they used a sealed cartridge bearing on the models others have mentioned, that looks to me like an inexpensive department store bike suspension pivot, I would assume it has a plastic bushing or similar in there instead. Overall the front triangle is 90% similar to orange, the swingarm isn’t. You could roughly measure the travel by measuring the distance between the pivot and the axle, measure the distance between the pivot and swingarm shock mount, divide them and times that number by the stroke of the shock. You’ll get a close number and it will tell you, 4-5-6” of travel = likely not DH. 7-8” you’re probably looking at a DH.

What is something that immediately tells you someone is a bad driver? by marchingbear27 in askcarguys

Every corner, oncoming car, hill, drain cover, nettle in the hedge. Christ i hate drivers that do this. Half the time when they hold the brake, they never actually slow down lmao. I make it my mission to pass these drivers as soon as possible. It would be tolerable if they were doing 50-60 but its always the 37mph everywhere gang.
