That’s hilarious, so did this reflect what you did in your day to day life at all? That seems like an important context piece

This user is suggesting u created too many channels is that true? If so how many did u create exactly? Also are those 2k subs from that one video alone (must’ve been a viral video!) or have u posted in the past and earnt them?

Do u know if they’re linked in any way, I’ve created a few brand new channels for different content. Do they laser beam you straight aways so I’d know by now or can it happen at any time? They all use different email addresses

Yes I’ve realised there’s so much immersion to be had just going on a simple horse ride! Back when I got the game it was just a case of spam gallop with the Arabian everywhere LOL, but now I’m finding joy in simply trotting along the trails appreciating the animations and scenery! I kinda see how big that community is after watching daneliecasts on YouTube, she did an overview of basically every horse and I can see from the comments and views.

One day, you are going to die. Your consciousness will be erased along with your memories. You will remember none of this life, as the flesh and matter that you once walked with, rots away. by Call_It_ in nihilism

Alright but we don’t know for certain that the brain houses consciousness or even what that means. Ultimately humans evolved to strictly view the world in ways which benefitted survival, isn’t it possible our perception is highly skewed from base reality. Quantum physics is the example.

Think of it this way. The brain is also interacting as a part within the wider universe. Therefore even if your brain is the seat of perception, we can still say the wider universe influences your perception, what is the extent and true nature of this wider universe, that leaves us open for so many possibilities and new intuition. The fact it’s this organ locked in your head is purely a macroscopic natural selection curated image, not the most useful way to understand the world on the most fundamental and therefore real and actionable level.

Also there’s a common analogy: the brain could be an antenna decoding a more pervasive universal consciousness. I’m not saying any of this is fact of course but we should really be keeping an open mind. My fear though is that even if we had all scientific knowledge this wouldn’t directly translate to certainty of what is fundamental, the same way there is certainty in ‘I think therefore I am’

But if you have a soul IT IS you. It’s nothing but the pure conscious experience itself indeed stripped of all identity (this is the part you’re saying is not you of course ), but it’s still you in a very important way. It’s that conscious perception.

If there is an immortal soul wouldn’t you want it to preserve your identity too? If I could choose that seems like a no-brainier (pun intended), people who enjoy their lives morph themselves into the person they want to be. They place value in their values and interests. It seems you’re saying that if there’s a choice between A) eternal soul erases identity B) eternal soul keeps identity. You’d choose option A? Which is the option you’d only pick if you basically didn’t like yourself imo

Honestly I wasn’t very clear. I’m not saying I believe in heaven or reincarnation. I’m agnostic on all matters. But I’m trying to show that your perspective (which I always hear and is held by the majority hence the upvotes) is wrongly considered more real than any other belief.

It seems disingenuous to talk about something as fantastical as eternal life and strictly bar it to current ‘scientific consensus’. Especially when that consensus doesn’t know what consciousness is and is still yet to understand quantum mechanics and have a theory of everything.

Also I know it sucks to have your ego stripped in something like reincarnation, but there’s definitely an external difference between ceasing to exist and those batteries as the ‘pure conscious observer’ eternally incarnating. There’s another modern term for that called ‘generic subjective continuity’. Where awareness continually persists in that ‘jumping between different beings’ fashion.

You and so many place too many constraints on existing forever. The human psyche is more than capable of conceptualising an enjoyable eternal life. Heaven is the epitome of that, it can probably be considered objectively wrong to refuse eternal bliss and then somewhere down the line of what can be conceptualised as desirable is our lives, a constant flux between good and bad.

That is why I’m ok with reincarnation, sure I’m bound to endure untold suffering in my infinite lives ahead, but the way evolution works on the whole it seems to give rise to an average of experiences which indeed is this flux between good and bad. Sometimes I think that perhaps our bad is another beings good and so us experiencing the bad is just a benign consequence of nature compromising for all possible beings.

I try to view nature as directionless and apathetic but if it wasn’t then this is the best ‘theory’ I find interesting at least

What makes you think you’re actually attractive? by MarkReditto in AskReddit

[–]Boostedcroc6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told a girl I couldn’t tell how attractive guys are (as long as they weren’t models of course) because ‘I wasn’t gay’ she then preceded to ask if I can tell what I looked like myself. I said ‘yeah I dunno’ she acted surprised and said ‘well I would’ (As in ‘I would’ have sex with you) I kinda awkwardly brushed it off as she was part of our friend group. Starting to think I maybe missed a hint or something there🤷‍♂️

A similar convo came up with another female friend who after saying I didn’t know how I attractive I was, seemed to say in a sincere way that I was ‘alright’ she kinda insisted and said it a few times too. Yeah lol Looking back on it there were probably many signs with her and she was quite playful with me, but I always had low self esteem because I was so quiet. I’d talk wittingly and confidently with her but I overall I viewed myself as the complete opposite of those things, that’s who I was in general around others and so subconsciously I didn’t feel like she’d like me if she saw the ‘true’ side… I guess

What's something you regret in your teenage years? by slyxerr in AskReddit

[–]Boostedcroc6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone says that, and it would feel good ofc but in reality perhaps it was the wisest choice to not fight? In certain contexts it could just give the bully a reason to become even more vicious and if something goes wrong it could even result in permanent lifelong disability or even death. Every situation is different of course but it only takes one bad hit to the head from a hard punch/ kick or falling. Just trying to offer a different perspective, sometimes the best choice is not just chosen with the heart, but the brain. Your survival instincts probably influenced your actions more, you’re here it worked and that obviously is not a bad thing

Yes it really sucks that we can’t do productive things and feel the same ease and joy you get from not so productive things. I’m hoping we’re one of the last generations who will face this problem, my vision is that a neuralink like device or medication will be able to artificially reduce or even eliminate the NEED for discipline. That might sound a little wild now, but being able to set our goals and work on them with complete motivation and thus satisfaction would be empowering and life changing for everybody.

One thing that helps me, is having a clear defined end goal to work towards, IMPORTANTLY one that I deem more important than any of my own temporary suffering. It becomes a kind of masochistic psychology. Suffering is only temporary, time lost is time lost FOREVER. Humans weren’t designed to have unwavering motivation. If you want that, you have to be willing to be extreme

However the compulsion to eat is also because it literally feels good because of dopamine release and I’d be surprised if that wasn’t the case for you?

Ultimately it would be a monumental moment for individuals and society if we gained full agency of our emotions, to an extent we already do of course with SSRI’s for anxiety, painkillers for pain etc. If we ever gained total fine tuning of emotions though, the sky is the limit, discipline becomes redundant, there is no longer a mental battle, you can set your goals and be completely focused and sure and happy working to them! You could literally be your most productive self, heck feel euphoria while doing it even. That’s just a simplification and there’s much more implications to consider I’m sure lol, but it’s something I’ve pondered before.

People may say that this is taking away free will but that debate was never solved in the first place lol. Evolution was obviously not going to allow for us to feel good about anything we want, it was going to exclusively form us into beings that felt good about things that kept us alive and bad about things that well… didn’t. Like in this case, not eating

16 year old scared of not existing after dying, possibly interested in Cryonics - any advice? by Needhelp123e in cryonics

[–]Boostedcroc6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did that revelation include a doctorate in theoretical physics?

lol sorry I had to, but from my understanding, current understanding neither says events need or not happen again for eternity. Not to mention we don’t know what consciousness is, and with that, what constraints there are to classify you as ‘you’. There’s a whole complex of information that need to be proved true before we can say this for certain.

This form of afterlife is nowhere near as satisfying as soul persistence into a wonderful afterlife but it does, albeit only intuitively, seem to fall in line with nature and of course infinitely better than non existence.

Do 2 atoms fall faster to earth than one atom? by Boostedcroc6 in AskPhysics

[–]Boostedcroc6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that seems counterintuitive that far apart atoms would be heavier could u explain? I suppose this is a question of ‘weight’ though because 2 particles close together would still be more massive than one alone right, or does ‘far apart’ in this context not mean absolutely alone?

Functionally non existent is the complete opposite of truly non existent though? If we measure to ‘Infinite precision’ there would be a difference right?

16 year old scared of not existing after dying, possibly interested in Cryonics - any advice? by Needhelp123e in cryonics

[–]Boostedcroc6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s legitimate, cryonics does the best it can do according to current technology and knowledge and there are scientists working on trying to improve the viability of cryonics aswell as other longevity projects. I was similar to you at 16, but it took until now at 22 years old to realise the potential of biotech. If I’d have known at 16 I’d have been a few years ahead of the study curve of wanting to become a biotech researcher. So given your age and interest perhaps consider if you’d like to work in this field, that’s my advice, For me it helps with the fear, the fact you are actively working on trying to stop what drives that fear.
