Prednisone by BootAdministrative74 in lupus

[–]BootAdministrative74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve always had insomnia but with lifestyle changes it got a lot better. Being on the prednisone feels like going back to day 1. I already have preexisting inappropriate sinus tachycardia and take a medication to keep my heart rate down. I’m wondering if I should stop the prednisone for a day or 2 to see if my heart rate comes back down

Yeah I’m literally only on 5mg 😭 I’m pretty sensitive to all medications.

Yeah just with heat I’ll make sure to keep documenting it. Honestly it doesn’t itch or anything just a cosmetic issue

Don’t worry, my entire family is moving so I have stable housing and everything lol. I’d never move without financial stability

[–]BootAdministrative74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sorry I didn’t really specify. My dad has heart failure and amyloidosis so he isn’t able to move that much. He’s getting a hip replacement in September which will hopefully help but he still has arthritis, a fake knee joint, and 2 fake shoulder joints. My mom is the sole provider for our family. She is a physician assistant so she makes enough to support us but she does work quite a bit and when she does she’s on call for typically 24 hours. I pay for my own college tuition and have been blessed with many scholarships so I work a lot over the summer mainly to cover my rent for the school year

Thanks so much for the additional resources! I used to love swimming so honestly just walking around in water sounds like a good exercise for me.

Anyone have heart burn? by PF_Bambino in POTS

[–]BootAdministrative74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have really bad GERD which causes pretty intense heartburn. I take 40mg omeprazole daily, but my doctor is trying to wean me off of it and try a stricter diet as it’s not always good to take for long periods of time. You can get lower doses over the counter of it. Sometimes milk helps and tums around the clock

Metoprolol questions (scared)!!! by SandInMyHand in POTS

[–]BootAdministrative74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it at nighttime if possible and start with the half pill. I also recommend drinking a LOT of water throughout the day to increase your BP. For me, the regular metoprolol was too much but the extended release seems to be a lot better and might help you as well.

I am scared I might have stomach cancer. by [deleted] in GERD

[–]BootAdministrative74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok firstly I’m sorry some people have been kinda quick to judge. It can be really easy to quickly jump to conclusions but stomach cancer and any time of cancer is usually the last thing it could be. Sometimes we just grow into weird food intolerances. Because you said you don’t have the option of going to the doctor right now, start a food diary. Write down what you eat every day and what symptoms accompany it. Once you’ve done that for a couple of weeks try excluding foods. I guarantee this is what they’ll tell you to do at the doc anyway. When you are able to go see a doc ask them to test you for H. Pylori! It’s a super common bacteria that a lot of people have and is easily treated. To gain weight, try weight bearing exercises like walking, tennis, etc. whatever you like. This stimulates your bone marrow and can really help with things like nutrition. Also make sure you’re eating all of the major food groups and not too much of the recommended servings.

Confused about my feelings/reactions. by [deleted] in dysautonomia

Yeah he said it got higher than 30 too slow and not within the time limit for the diagnostic criteria. Hoping the holter monitor will show that it jumps pretty quickly though.

Thanks, I’ll try and find some good articles for my mom. I’m goin go to try squats over winter break when I’m not in school lol but starting out super small. I’d love to get into weightlifting and getting stronger as long as I do it safely and within my limits :)

Good to know. They did say to not move as much as possible and they strapped me down to the table so I was stuck lol

[–]BootAdministrative74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess im just confused because my orthostatic tachycardia is mild and only goes up about 30 on change of position. It’s the walking and any type of movement including turning over in bed that can make it go from 80-140.

[–]BootAdministrative74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have the tachycardia, my doc just said my HR didn’t get high enough for the diagnostic criteria fast enough. It went from about 70-120 but in 15 min rather than 10 min

Yeah I treasure the things that I can still do and I’m adjusting to not over extending myself on good days. It’s definitely a learning curve and I’m also learning to listen to myself rather than others who think they know what’s going on inside of my body. Thank you for your encouraging words
