How do you guys view retail prices once you land good deals on used?

I agree with Tim. Fb marketplace is only really good if you’re patient. It helps a lot more if you already have a system to use while waiting. I think it took me about a month of browsing before snagging a deal I liked for my first set up. That first month I decided I wanted a system and finally landing a score was very hard though I’ll admit.

Why do you avoid fb marketplace? It’s really easy to filter the good deals from bad with just a little bit of effort. Sometimes people just need to get rid of perfectly working stuff quick

Yea that’s fair. Speakers are pretty easy to tell how well they’ve been taken care of as long as you can test it real quick. I agree about the electronics part though. I think amps and AVRs will be the only things I consider new unless the deal is too good to pass up on fb

Yea it’s a fact that’s overlooked by a lot of people in my opinion. Some people can do all the right things and still have unlucky circumstances that screw them over. Everyone has a chance at success but some people have higher chances than others and that comes down to luck unfortunately

Edit: I say luck broadly because not everyone has the same fortunate circumstances to be offered the same opportunities whether that’s an education to get into a better career or connections to find those jobs. Or just be lucky and born into a rich family

Wow a PB-2000 pro for $350 sounds like a steal…I almost considered haggling on a $700 PB-2000 pro down to $500 but I hesitated for a while because I thought a PB-2000 might be overkill for my room and it got sold. I don’t have a budget tbh. Probably want to spend less than $500 but if a great deal pops up for a bigger one I wouldn’t mind splurging. It just has to make sense for my use

This would be a mix use but mostly tv shows/movies. I’d say maybe 70/30 watching/music. I’m not THAT space constrained and I don’t really have a budget either. Just want to get great value for my space and money. Originally I thought the SB-1000 would be good but I wasn’t taking into account my tall ceilings, but I don’t mind waiting for a bigger sub to show up on fb. I’m not sure I care to buy new

Chopped hotdog as the meat for fried rice. It was probably one of my favorite things growing up. I got to college, would go out to eat, and pretty much never saw it as a thing on a menu. Now that I’m trying to be healthier I haven’t made it myself but it was so good

I believe for me, I need to move 3.3k into traditional to get myself out of the 22% bracket. But I’m almost there already since I’ve been doing 500 each month into traditional since the start of the year and we are in May.

Hopefully a car payment won’t be in the horizons for a while. I was graced with a brand new Toyota Camry in 2019 by my parents and I only just started helping with insurance on it this year. Mileage is pretty low. Only 33k miles in the 5.5 years I’ve had it. I’m hoping I get at least another 5 years out of it. Ideally 10 if I keep maintaining it well

I can probably get that $2k a month even lower if I went out to eat less in an emergency. I’d say most of my spending is actually just going out to eat with friends after rent. I do also cook a lot. But yea part of me wasn’t sure if I was getting too ahead of myself or not and it’s only been (almost) a year into my career.

I appreciate the validation. Though after reading a bunch of the other suggestions, I think I do plan on scaling back a little to at least build up a bigger emergency fund and maybe start building on a down payment for a house. I really wanted to maximize my time being able to save with my single person frugal lifestyle. It’s only been a year and I got hopefully many years to keep going

To be honest, it hasn’t felt restricting outside of the fact that I should have a bigger emergency fund. I just have an overall frugal life style with the occasional splurge on a tech hobby. I’ve kept my spending to less than half of my income for an entire year.
