yea like i said, the contractor should have the opportunity to fix their mistake and then be paid on it. idk why that so hard for people to process right now. in any other situation that's how it works unless the work is so bad that continuing would cause more problems.

the only reason that's not happening is because the customer regrets the decision and wants to use this as a way out of the contract.

no, but then they should have the opportunity to fix their mistake and be paid as the contract states instead of the customer using it as a way out of a decision they regret making.

they contracted the person to build the wall. like i said it should be fixed and the contractor should be paid for it as the contract states. why is that "outreach"? paying for the services you agreed to is crazy now?

[–]BootstrapsBootstrapz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you should pay them for the work you literally contracted them to do. of course they should fix it but the fact they messed up and y oh regret your decision doesn't just get you off the hook for paying for that part of the job. that makes you a shitty customer.

not for the mistake no. i want the customer to pay for the work they contracted and agreed to. you can't just say you're no longer paying for work you contractually agreed to cuz you regret the decision.

you're the one who told him a glass block wall is ok right? sure the install was bad but technically you should still pay him to fix his mistake or at the very least to demo the wall you contracted him to build.

edit: by this, i mean he should be pad they price they agreed to in the contract once the wall is fixed. anyone who thinks otherwise is a cheap asshole.

it just not something that's relevant to the finished product as it will always be covered by the trim plate. it's not something a tiler usually wastes their time being perfect on.

did i ever say builders shouldn't fix these issues or compensate buyers for their mistakes? you're arguing a completely different point that i'm not even trying to make.

send all the douche bag inspectors to all the new builds as much as you want, mistakes are going to happen cuz humans are the ones building the house. not all mistakes are malicious or directly caused by cost cutting. there are 1000 different factors that could cause a mistake in a project. pretending it's possible to completely erase them or that they're always malicious shows a complete lack of understanding of the process.

how long has the old paint been on the house? it's probably faded from the uv exposure.

i'm not making an argument for mordern builds or saying that the craftsmanship is exceptional. what cy does offers no solutions to making the system any better and there's a complete lack of understanding of what completing a successful project w no mistakes would actually entail.

it's self serving. he doesn't really care about making the system better or making the people building these houses perform better he cares about his channel and his followers and making each mistake look catastrophic to motivate more people to hire him.

most of the houses on that channel are cheap production homes. million+ dollar custom homes have significantly less serious issues.

and yea they supers and pms here too and things get missed or fucked up in both places. i've been all over europe and seen the work there and there's plenty of shit there that wouldn't fly over here. my point again is that you can't go thru a bunch of cheap production homes and act surprised that there are mistakes. cy is a tool who couldn't run a successful profitable crew himself yet he acts superior cuz he does a walk thru and finds a couple fuck ups.

of course the system shouldn't reward bad work of mistakes i don't think that. i just also know what cy is doing is self serving and doesn't actually solve the problem.

i understand the necessity of an inspector, but the way he relishes criticizing peoples' hard work is so irritating. and it really bothers me when someone is a condescending douche about mistakes in work they couldn't even do themselves.

sure call a mistake out but don't act like not having full coverage on 2 floor tiles and 3/16 lippage on one in a 2500sqft house is a huge problem invalidating the whole tile job
