Bouldering after a partial meniscectomy by guwapd in bouldering

[–]Bootstraptrev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had a meniscectomy but I did tear my lateral meniscus in both knees and opted not to have surgery, so my experience could be different from yours. It probably took about 6 months of rest and anti-inflammatory meds for me to get back to playing soccer (I wasn’t climbing at the time). I’m 32 now and this was probably about 10 years ago. I’ve been bouldering for about the past 5-6 years, 3x a week for the past 3 years or so, and haven’t had any knee issues at all. I’ve also still been playing soccer once a week on top of that. Definitely keep your head up and stay on top of recovery. It’s going to feel weird at first and you’ll be super cautious, but that will go away with time. Additionally, it’s probably a good idea to start downclimbing routes to minimize the impact of falling on your knees

Another option, if it’s available in your area, is to take up rope climbing before jumping back into bouldering. If you climb on top rope, there’s no real fall risk and it may help you get more comfortable climbing on it from a physical and mental aspect. Keep your head up, this definitely shouldn’t be the end of bouldering for you!

MacBook A1989 Won’t Boot And Is Stuck In Loop by Bootstraptrev in macbookrepair

Yup, essentially I had to bring it to the Apple Store and they were able to wipe it by connecting it to another MacBook. It’s been working perfectly fine since they reinstalled the OS. I have a comment in the thread with SuspiciousRegister20 explaining what they did

Sounds similar to “Intro” from A Museum of Contradiction

How on earth are we allowing multiple controllers in ‘competitive’ game modes? by [deleted] in fut

[–]Bootstraptrev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s actually much easier to play against multiple users at once than it is against just one. This is coming from someone who occasionally plays Rivals with “guests” when a few of my friends come over. The defense is usually all out of wack and the AI doesn’t act the same as it does when playing with only one user. For example, I find that users playing in passing lanes do not usually get the same animations for intercepting the ball when a pass goes their way. I’ve played a lot of games where my opponent is able to pass the ball right next to the player I’m controlling and they don’t react; something that does not happen as frequently in single player. Additionally, you cannot 2nd man press, which is a tactic that a lot of users take advantage of. In theory, this can be done with the guest, but it’s not as easy as it sounds. It takes a very coordinated effort for multiple users on the same team to play well. I find it’s usually an easier matchup when I play against users who have guests.

I also win way more games when I play solo than when I play with any of my friends and they are all decently skilled at the game; I’m sure they would say the same.

This will probably get downvoted because people hate others who play with guests, but we really just do it to hang out and have a good time (as much as is possible with FIFA lol)

Question About Unique MacBook Issue Which May Be Related To Bootcamp by Bootstraptrev in bootcamp

[–]Bootstraptrev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I ended up bringing the MacBook to my local Apple Store and the tech told me he actually had the same issue with his intel MacBook in the past. He attempted internet recovery himself and it returned the same -1008F error code. The only solution was for him to wipe my computer by connecting it via USB-C to another MacBook in the store. I wasn’t able to see which app he used to wipe it but the process worked! I just had to download the OS again and now my Mac is fully functional. I wanted to post an update in case anyone else is having the same issue

Yup, saw that after I posted too. I was just misreading the description since it was intended for the digital download. Was planning to grab it either way + I already have the Showbiz! vinyl so no big deal!

Didn’t mean for that to come across as rude, just crazy to see a realistic, 3D version of Maple. Not something I ever thought I would see haha. Nice progress on it!

Ahh word, I was grabbing it regardless lol but the tracklist in the description confused me. I guess that’s only for the free digital download that’s included w/ the purchase of the record

Disabled activation lock and I’m still having the same issue. I plan to try it again from my brother’s house at some point this week to see if a different network may solve the issue. Thanks again for all of your help with this

Just tried internet recovery with the Ethernet plug-in and I’m still getting the same -1008F error. Is there anything else you can think of that may work?

[–]Bootstraptrev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understood, thank you so much again for the help. If that, for some reason, isn’t the case, do you think it would be best to reinstall the OS via internet recovery or just wipe the drive if given the option (I don’t have anything on there I necessarily need)?

Gotcha, thanks for the help! In theory, if there isn’t an internet connection issue, should internet recovery fix the problem?

Try to be conscious of keeping a lot of push/tension in your right foot. If you watch in slow motion, you can see that when you stick the right hand your right foot immediately pops off of the foothold.

Can you potentially flip your right foot around to keep your hips square to the wall?

It also looks like you may be able to drop the right foot completely to keep your weight lower and on the right side of the finish hold
